JACOBUS, Rodrigo  e  GOLIN, Cida. A nobleman buffoon in the great media kingdom: the character Baron of Itararé's construction in journalistic parody of the weekly publication A Manha (1926-1935). Intercom, Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Comun. [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.2, pp.55-74. ISSN 1809-5844.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S1809-58442011000200004.

Baron of Itararé appears among journalist Apparício Torelly's (1895-1971) most anthological creations in the humorous weekly publication A Manha (1926-1959). Aided in a bibliographical investigation and narratological analysis, this research interprets this hyperbolic character's construction, fictitious Torelly's projection in A Manha, great media of its time's parodic device. In a selection of 20 texts under a material that goes over 450 articles published between 1926 and 1935 it can be seen character's metamorphosis in different positions (such as our dear director, marshal-admiral, Baron, Duke, Grain-duke and Emperor). It also concludes that in A Manha's pages Torelly wore a fancy dress of the biggest buffoon of Brazilian political scene, satirizing in a acute way Brazilian society's hegemonic sections of his own time and their relationships with the press. In his enduring work, the journalist wove an important reference of the critic humorous narrative.
