This study aims to evaluate food consumption, to identify the ingestion of energy and dietary nutritients of the diet, as well as eating habits of elderly registered in the Municipal Program of the Third Age (PMTI), in the municipal district of Viçosa-MG. Food consumption was evaluated in 183 seniors aged from 60 to 90 years, through the sum of consumption found between the 24hour-Recall and the Semi-quantitative questionnaire of Alimentary Frequency. To adapt consumption of nutrients and energy, we used a calculation based on the Dietary Ingestion of Reference (DRI's). Energy ingestion was below the estimated need for almost all seniors, and a high ingestion of energy of lipidic sources (52.5%) was observed. Highly inadequate frequency was verified in the consumption of vitamins (vitamins C, THE, B1, B2 and B6). Calcium consumption 1/3 of the recommended value. Unbalance in the diet was observed, with a high prevalence of inadequate in the consumption of proteins, vitamins and minerals in the diet of the elderly people studied.
