The present work aims to reflect on the importance of ecotourism as an alternative sustainable development in the region of Bonito, in Mato Grosso do Sul. This was to demonstrate and analyze if the ecology tourism is being practiced as a tool in environmental protection, promoting sustainability, thus avoiding damage to the environment and society. Thus, it was considered whether the practice has promoted tourism improvement in quality of life of the local community and if it is contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
