BARGOS, Danubia Caporusso y MATIAS, Lindon Fonseca. Mapping and analysis of urban green areas in Paulínia (SP): study with application of geotechnologies. Soc. nat. [online]. 2012, vol.24, n.1, pp. 143-156. ISSN 1982-4513. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1982-45132012000100012.
The geotechnologies are important instruments for assisting studies related to urban green areas, because they allow the processing of spatial information related to those areas and their specific needs in a fast and accurate way. This work had as goal mapping and analysis of the availability of urban green areas in Paulínia (SP) through the use of geotecnologies to support public policies to the Paulínia town. The methodology used in this study was effective for mapping and analysis of the spatial configuration of urban green areas of the town. The mapping of those areas revealed that its distribution is heterogeneous, and that the majority is in the form of small fragments of woody vegetation remaining. The results indicate that the city has shown a high reduction of natural vegetation and, consequently, presents a low quantity of green areas in urban areas.
