This paper analyzed the characteristics of the fluvial system comprising the watershed of the Mulungu Stream, Belém de São Francisco - PE, Brazil, using an approach based on the landscape connectivity. By the application of land use and geomorphological maps, SRTM data, field information, was recognized forms of disconnection in the transmission of water and bedload sediment. Later the basin was separated in 14 sub-basins, and was analyzed the capacity of these forms of disconnection to prevent transmission through the system, identifying the connect sub-basis and the effective catchment area of the sub-basis. Four different scenarios were analyzed related to the magnitude of rainfall events, and with breaking of dams risk, each one showed differences in the effective catchment areas, since four connected sub-basins in the low magnitude scenarios up to the high magnitude scenarios with all sub-basins connected.
