Abstract

SILVA, Emanuel Araújo et al. Use of satellite images in algebraic geoprocessing in the microregion of Campanha Ocidental, Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. Floresta Ambient. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.3, pp.277-285. ISSN 2179-8087.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/2179-8087.069013.

To analyze the temporal transformation of land cover and use in the microregion of Campanha Ocidental, Rio Grande do Sul state, a mosaic of LANDSAT 5 satellite images (Thematic Mapper sensor) covering the study region was used for the periods of 1985, 1996 and 2011. These images were processed and analyzed in SPRING 5.2.1 application, and the intersection of thematic maps was conducted with the aid of LEGAL (Spatial Language for Algebraic Geoprocessing) program. Agricultural and native areas were the classes that most influenced the changes in Land Use.

Keywords : LANDSAT 5; remote sensing; LEGAL.
