Resumos

Um caso de síndrome de Guillain-Barré-Strohl em paciente de 7 anos de idade na fase de convalescença de hepatite infecciosa por provável vírus A é relatado. Tal síndrome pode raramente ocorrer como complicação dessa moléstia e em mais da metade dos casos, surge na fase de convalescença ou fase pós-ictérica. Outras complicações neurológicas são descritas tais como envolvimento de nervos cranianos, encefalites, meningites, mielites, neuropatias periféricas, tremosr, distúrbio de comportamento e deficits neurológicos focais.

A case of the Guillain-Barré-Strohl syndrome (GBSS) in a 7 year-old-patient convalescing from infectious hepatitis possibly by virus A is presented. The GBSS represent a rare complication from this disease and in more than 50% of all cases reported in the literature it appeared after the icteric phase. Other neurologic complications are described as follows: cranial nerve involvement, encephalitis, myelitis, meningitis, peripheral neuropathy, tremor syndrome, behaviour dysfunction and focal neurological signs.

RESUMO

Um caso de síndrome de Guillain-Barré-Strohl em paciente de 7 anos de idade na fase de convalescença de hepatite infecciosa por provável vírus A é relatado. Tal síndrome pode raramente ocorrer como complicação dessa moléstia e em mais da metade dos casos, surge na fase de convalescença ou fase pós-ictérica. Outras complicações neurológicas são descritas tais como envolvimento de nervos cranianos, encefalites, meningites, mielites, neuropatias periféricas, tremosr, distúrbio de comportamento e deficits neurológicos focais.

SUMMARY

A case of the Guillain-Barré-Strohl syndrome (GBSS) in a 7 year-old-patient convalescing from infectious hepatitis possibly by virus A is presented. The GBSS represent a rare complication from this disease and in more than 50% of all cases reported in the literature it appeared after the icteric phase.
