RESUMO
A concentração de lisozima lacrimal foi medida pelo método da lisoplaca em quarenta e sete recém-nascidos divididos em três grupos; vinte e dois de termo, onze de termo com baixo peso e catorze prematuros. A concentração de lisozima foi maior no grupo de ter mo comparando-se com o grupo de baixo peso e prematuros e seus valores aumentaram com peso e idade gestacional dos recém-nascidos.

SUMMARY
The concentration of lysozyme in the lacrimal tear of newborn babies was measured by a modification of the lysoplate method. The 47 newborn babies were classified in three groups; 22 normal terms, 11 small-fordates and 14 preterms. The lysozyme concentration was greater in the normal term babies compared with the other two groups and in creased with gestational age and weight of the newborns.
