Paraganglioma orbitário - Relato de um caso e apresentação dos achados à Imagem por Ressonância Magnética

RESUMO

Este trabalho relata uma paciente de 52 anos que apresentou um paraganglioma orbitário, completamente removido através de uma orbitotomia lateral. Trata-se de um tumor benigno, bastante raro na órbita com apenas 28 casos previamente descritos. Nossa paciente apresentou uma lesão com grande impregnação de contraste à tomografia computadorizada. A imagem por ressonância magnética revelou lesão isointensa em T1, com hiposinal em T2 e realce após a administração de gadolíneo. Estes achados, juntamente com a evolução clínica, auxiliam grandemente no diagnóstico diferencial da lesão.

SUMMARY

This paper describes a 52-year-old woman with an orbital paraganglioma that was completelly removed through a lateral orbitotomy. Paragangliomas are benign tumors, extremelly rare in the orbit with only 28 cases previously reported. Our patient had a lesion that enhanced markedly on computerized tomography scan. Magnetic resonance imaging studies revealed that the tumor was isointense in T1, hipointense in T2 and showed enhancement with the administration of gadolinium. These findings, as well as the clinical ones, are very important in the differential diagnosis of these lesions.
