Efeitos da nimodipina na circulação retrobulbar em glaucoma de pressão normal: análise por Doppler colorido

Effects of nimodipine on the retrobulbar circulation in normal tension glaucoma: a color Doppler imaging analysis

RESUMO

O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar a repercussão do uso de nimodipina na circulação retrobulbar de pacientes com glaucoma de pressão normal. Utilizando o Doppler colorido, examinamos doze pacientes, num estudo duplo mascarado, cruzado e controlado por placebo. Foram avaliadas as velocidades de fluxo máxima na sístole, velocidade diastólica final e calculado o índice de resistência vascular nas artérias oftálmica, central da retina e ciliar posterior curta. O presente estudo sugere que a nimodipina não resulta em melhora dos parâmetros hemodinâmicos, pela análise por Doppler colorido, em pacientes com glaucoma de pressão normal.

SUMMARY

Colar Doppler imaging (CDI) was employed to investigate the effects of nimodipine on the retrobulbar circulation of twelve patients with normal tension glaucoma. In a crossed, double masked, placebo controlled study, we measured the peak systolic and end diastolic velocities and the vascular resistance index of the ophthalmic, central retinal and short posterior ciliary arteries. Our results suggest that nimodipine does not improve the hemodynamic parameters in normal tension glaucoma patients by CDI analysis.
