Teste de fotoestresse em pacientes diabéticos portadores de edema macular

RESUMO

Objetivo:

Avaliar o teste do fotoestresse como método de avaliação da função macular em 15 pacientes diabéticos com retinopatia diabética não-proliferativa e edema macular clinicamente significante unilateral.

Métodos:

Os resultados foram comparados com os 16 pacientes do grupo controle por meio do teste estatístico Mann-Whitney para amostras independentes. Foi feita também a comparação entre os olhos acometidos e os olhos não-acometidos dos pacientes em estudo pelo teste de Wilcoxon para amostras pareadas.

Resultados:

A diferença entre as amostras foi significativa em ambos com p = 0,0000234 no teste de Mann-Whitney e p = 0,000656 no teste de Wilcoxon.

Conclusão:

O teste de fotoestresse mostrou ser de simples execução, e um passo importante na propedêutica para o diagnóstico do edema macular do diabético.

SUMMARY

Purpose:

To investigate the photostress test in 15 patients with unilateral diabetic maculopathy.

Methods:

We analyzed the results and the control group using Mann-Whitney test and also the diabetic patients' eyes with and without macular edema using Wilcoxon test.

Results:

We found a statistically significant difference in both tests (p = 0.0000234 by Mann-Whitney test and p = 0.000656 by Wilcoxon test).

Conclusion:

The photostress test is an easy and important step in diabetic maculopathy evaluation and diagnosis
