Oftalmia simpática grave: relato de caso

RESUMO

Os autores apresentam um caso de oftalmia simpática grave pós-facoemulsificação que foi tratado com imunossupressão sistêmica e enucleação do olho simpatizante. A paciente evoluiu com resolução do quadro inflamatório e melhora da acuidade visual. Os autores discutem quadro clínico, diagnóstico, fisiopatologia e aspectos terapêuticos da oftalmia simpática.

SUMMARY

The authors present a case of severe sympathetic post-phacoemulsification ophthalmia which was treated with systemic immunosuppression and enucleation of the sympathizing eye. The patient presented resolution of the inflammatory picture and improvement in visual acuity. The clinical characteristics, diagnosis, pathophysiology and therapeutic aspects of sympathetic ophthalmia are discussed.
