RESUMO

Aspectos clínicos, neurológicos e laboratoriais das meningites bacterianas agudas no lactente são criticamente analisados em função da experiência da autora. São apresentadas considerações fisiopatológicas sobre os eventos que ocorrem na fase aguda desses processos.


SUMMARY

Clinical, neurologic and laboratory aspects of bacterial meningitis in the newborn infant are critically reviewed taking into account author's experience. Pathophysiologic data on acute phase phenomena in the CNS are analysed for this purpose.
