Superbrotamento ou envassouramento da laranjeira

SUMMARY
A few citrus plants showing a type of witches-broom were observed in a nursery at Araras, S. Paulo, Brazil. In a five-year old citrus grove planted at Limeira, S. Paulo, about 30 per cent of the plants of the graft combination Peia over Caipira showed the witches-broom symptoms.
Observations made on the occurrence of the anomaly indicated that it is probably associated with the use of budwood from witches-broom trees. Transmission tests are being carried on to determine whether this type of witches-broom is of genetical origin or due to a virus.
