Effects of planting time and cutting on the seed and green matter production of sunn hemp

SUMMARY

A series of experiments were installed at Campinas, Tatuí, Ribeirão Prêto, Pindorama and Tietê (São Paulo State) to verify the effects of the planting time and cutting on the production of seeds and green matter by sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea L.).
Among the periods tested, the earliest (October to December) revealed as the best for both seed and green matter production.
The cutting, made at different devolopment stages of the plant, did not improved significantly the seed production, but in some cases there was a significant increase in green matter production.
