Studies on the storage of dry bean seed
Eduardo Zink; Luiz D'Artagnan de Almeida
SUMMARY
Seeds of dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were submitted to periodical standard germination tests during 24 months under open storage conditions. Seeds kept in plastic bags still germinated well (96-98%) after 2 years if the initial moisture of the grain was under 10%. However, germinabiiity was lost within few months when the moisture content of the seed was higher. Final germination (85%) of bean seeds stored in cloth bags was not affected by the initial moisture of the grain.
