Today is a day to be thankful. To thank friends and enemies because a person with no friends does not have the right to live and a person without enemies does not honor intelligence and integrity.
Friends are a safe port, the help that does not question, the ones who offer a hand and a shoulder, regardless of being right or wrong; enemies defy, provoke, and give us the strength to brave the storm on the open sea.
Today is a day to be thankful...
To thank a year full of work and hope, to thank the trust, friendship, and the rewards that were late, but that have finally arrived.
The last five years of my life are marked by strong landmarks; it represented a time of professional maturity, to balance life, for reflection, personal gains and losses, the independence to feel free to leave and live past dreams after the children have been raised and the parents are resting.
But instead of leaving, the option to stay and fight, fight for life, for a collective dream, for an ideal. Life, the dream, and the ideal are intertwined and seem odd to outsiders...
Obtaining the indexation of a scientific journal is a dream? Is it a dream to create an instrument that enables 10000 specialists to disseminate their ideas in their own language, allowing them to be known and understood by the rest of the world?
A dream cannot be explained, it can only be dreamt...
And today is a day to be thankful...
To thank my peers who, five years ago, confided in me to be the guardian of this dream. To thank especially a few individuals who provided the instruments, who collaborated and got involved voluntarily.
Today is a day to be thankful and to apologize because, it does not matter how hard we try, mistakes and injustice will be inevitable. Many people helped and it would be impossible to list all of them. And since today is a day to be thankful for, I want to record the names that symbolize all the others, and to ask each one to accept my acknowledgements and tribute because each one and all were important and irreplaceable in the indexation process of Revista Brasileira de Anestesiologia in MEDLINE, which was made official today...
