CESTARI, Maria Elisabeth. Experiencing an educational process: a path for teaching-learning and researching.
ABSTRACT: This is a case study which has as objective studying deeply an educational practice from its conception to its evaluation, pointing out some fragile aspects of the development of practical education as well as strategies that allow to overcome them. The need to modify the practical education started with my professional experience and with studies done during the different master's degree disciplines which indicated the limitations of the teaching that was being done and possible alternatives for the elaboration of the teacher's work. The proposal presented for the development of a practical discipline for nursing education was oriented by the ideas of Paulo Freire and has as presuppositions: teaching-learning activities must be planned and checked thoroughly by using a theoretical referential; the practical education must come from concrete situations experienced in clinicai practice training in order to discuss them and develop students' critical thinking which can enable them to enter the labor-market; teaching methodology must consider the student as active in the teaching-learning process and support him/her in the development of epistemological curiosity and reflection. The creation and implementation of this proposal is a path for teaching-learning, while guiding the analysis of its implementation is the path for researching. From the analysis of the data four topics emerged: the communication between student and teacher, the communication between student and patient, teaching-learning nursing and the nursing work. These topics are deeply connected and communication established between various subjects, students, teachers, patient, perform a central role in the development of the whole process. Paulo Freire's ideas proved to be extremely fertile for the planning and execution of the practical education of nursing.
