New team, new challenges

The editorial staff, proofreaders, and the selection of articles of Revista Brasileira de Oftalmologia are being redeveloped. The change aims at new perspectives and goals, including some nomenclature changes to cope with global publications. In addition to the editor-in-chief and the executive secretariat, we now count on the associate editors and proofreaders.

The associate editor is an expert in their specific area of ophthalmology, above all being committed and devoted to the selection and supervision of the proofreaders' work. Therefore, the editor-in-chief and associate editors will choose the proofreaders of a given work. Based on the proofreaders suggestion and evaluation, the associate editors will suggest a final decision to the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief then welcomes or changes the decision of accepting, rejecting, or requesting proofreading of the article.

The proofreader will have one job per month, and will have to evaluate carefully and respectfully that scientific article, giving to the associate editor their suggestion of decision. The associate editor will review the proofreader's job as well.

Commitment, as well as the quiet and arduous work of associate editors and proofreaders, is key to determine the quality of any scientific magazine, besides being the core in obtaining new indexers and greater impact factor.

The team is complete with the authors, without whom there would be no magazine. Soon we will disclose new encouragement tools to the authors, like awards, publicity, and a new website.

We keep working together.
