Para conhecimento de uma nova espécie de Scipopus, o autor estudou a morfologia externa e a genitália dos machos e das fêmeas comparando com as espécies já conhecidas.

erythrocephalus
The author presents a new species of Scipopus, with external morphology very similar to that of the S. erythrocephalus (Fabricius, 1805), the pruinosity distribution and the struture of the male and female genitalia, presenting good differencial characteristics. He belives this species to be one of the synonymes 0f S. : hottentota Robineu-Desvoidy, loripes Perty, penicilius Frey or ruficeps Hendel, but a perfect identity of the species, will only be possible after an examination of typical material.
