Going through the publications of the Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (Brazilian Archives of Cardiology), we identified 19 original articles on valvular disease, 12 of which (63.0%) were about interventions (surgical or percutaneous)^1-3 and 7 (37.0%) were "clinical", about diverse subjects^4,5.

We selected some examples of recent references^1-5. None of them analyzed the clinical peculiarity of the valvular disease. The inexhaustible clinical facet of symptoms and physical examination in valvulopathy has been disregarded in times of technological sophistication, impairing the basis for decision-making over old challenges at the bedside, including the etiopathogenic diagnosis of rheumatic disease, integration of clinical propedeutics and the analysis of natural evolution.

The impact of the merit of the classic must continue to be the target of scientific interest in the new frontiers of Cardiology knowledge.
