The RBF in 2014

To achieve the position we want to achieve in 2014, we need to dwell on the essential factors for that to happen, which undeniably rested where RBF is anchored undoubtedly to the excellent team of employees that we could bring together since 1998, the period from which we have the honor to address this important vehicle for the dissemination of technical information for the BSF (Brazilian Society of Tropical Fruits), highlighting the following:

1) Editorial Committee: Consisting of 18 professionals from UNESP / Jaboticabal, highly regarded in their respective area of expertise, working as interlocutors between advisors and authors, until the final determination of the articles sent.

2) Editorial Board: Composed of seven professionals from different institutions, appointed to the biennial congress of fruticulture, organized by the Brazilian Society of Tropical Fruits, and act to regulate the procedures adopted by the RBF.

3) Associate Editors: Composed of 15 professionals recognized by international institutions, which have helped to improve the visibility of RBF internationally.

4) Advisors: with 980 professionals from different research and teaching institutions in Brazil, and several from abroad. They are responsible for the approval or rejection of articles submitted to the RBF.

It is worth mentioning that each job is submitted, after meeting the standards of the journal, to 3-4 advisors, seeking cover all facets of the subject of the article.

We note that this number of advisors is constantly renewed after each edition of RBF, selecting those authors with approved work and minimum titling of doctor, who are invited to join us in this project. This procedure is recommended by ABEC, and we are very pleased with the results of this initiative.

5) Staff: The RBF has 3 employees that support for the smooth conduct of the activities of the journal.

With this formidable team, we need to concern ourselves with the crux of the project, which is the financial part. Take this opportunity to mention and thank the support received from Professor José Fernando Durigan, which has helped us as treasurer since 1998.

Our thanks also to the entities listed below:

FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES and Dean of Post Graduate UNESP who, believing in our project, have always supported us.

To the UNESP / Jaboticabal, our recognition for providing logistical support and operational facilities.

To the Board of SBF, partner of this project that has always supported us. Those supports allow us to achieve the following results:

1) Number of published works: With 705 original works of research published in the period 2010-2013, making the RBF occupy a prominent place in the Brazilian scenario and global fruticulture.

2) obtained Concepts: In the CAPES-QUALIS, referring to 2013, the RBF obtained the following concepts in different areas :

A2= Geography, Urban and Regional planning / Demography.

B1 = Agricultural Science I, Engineering I, Engineering III, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Animal Husbandry / Fisheries Resources, Interdisciplinary, Nursing.

B2 = Nutrition, Public Health, Biodiversity, Food Science, Education, Pharmacy, Engineering II.

B3 = Education, Medicine I, Medicine II.

B4 = Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences I, Biological Science II.

C = Astronomy / Physics, Sociology.

We are committed to get the concept A, also in the field of Agricultural Sciences.

3) Indexation: The Journal is indexed in:

AGRIS (2000)

AGROBASE (2000)

CAB (-2000-)

SCIELO (2001)

ISI (2007)

GALE GROUP (2008)

SCOPUS (2010)

These results encourage us to design the RBF for 2014.

1) Number of edits: Maintenance of 4 regular editions, with 30 papers each, plus 2 extra editions, for the 2nd SINFRUIT conducted at UNESP / Jaboticabal, in October 2013, and the Congress of Annonaceae, conducted at UNESP / Botucatu, in September 2013.

2) Start the magazine version also in English, when sent to the SciELO, hoping that was approved in Natal, Brazil (2010) is strictly enforced; 10% of the registration fee in Congress of fruit culture will be reversed for RBF. We already have a team of translators perfectly adjusted and we will work for at least the last 2 editions of 2014 will be in this new format.

Finally, our sincere thanks to the authors for entrusting the RBF as a vehicle for the dissemination of their work.

On behalf of the entire staff of RBF, we wish you a HAPPY 2014 and our sincere thanks.
