PRESENTATION OF THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Pesquisa Operacional, published in English for more than a decade and with free access on SciELO, still does not receive from the international community the attention that the high quality of its articles deserves. This is demonstrated by the relatively low indices of citations of these articles. Upon assuming the position of editor-in-chief of the journal, my first goal is to cope with this situation by expanding the journal’s international presence. An initiative in this sense is to ask our regular readers to explore its possible proximity abroad to exponents of research in the area, conducting invitations to participate in the Editorial Board of Pesquisa Operacional, driving the submission of articles to it. Another initiative I am taking is to ask prominent researchers to assume the organization of the edition of special issues on their lines of research. The noticeable quality of our last special numbers (Akartulani et al., 2021; Mahey et al., 2017), stimulates this call. Finally, another possible aid I request is the submission to Pesquisa Operacional of surveys and articles that can serve as a reference on the state of the art in Operational Research topics. I count on everyone’s collaboration.
