A REVISTA CIENTÍFICA NO PRÓXIMO SÉCULO

Preliminar
Os trabalhos que se seguem constituíram um simpósio apresentado na 52ª Reunião Anual da SBPC (Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência) realizada em Brasília de 8 a 14 de julho de 2000 como parte da programação oficial da Abralin. Este simpósio foi organizado por Leila Barbara a partir de informações sobre o interesse da comunidade em obter subsídios sobre a necessidade de revistas científicas, suas formas possíveis e as características envolvidas em sua organização. Leila Barbara convidou dois outros pesquisadores experientes em publicações científicas na área para disponibilizarem sua experiência: o Professor Luiz A.Marcuschi (UFPe), antigo representante da Lingüística no CNPq e membro do Conselho Editorial daquela agência que, além de sua larga experiência, teve oportunidade de fazer levantamento minucioso, como de resto, é seu hábito, das publicações periódicas brasileiras na área de letras e lingüística; o Professor Vilson Leffa (UCPEL), então presidente da Alab (Associação de Lingüística Aplicada e editor da revista Linguagem e Ensino e do CD-ROM TELA \ Textos em Lingüística Aplicada. O terceiro apresentador, Leila Barbara falou na qualidade de Editora da D.E.L.T.A.
Foreword
The papers below were presented as a symposium at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the SBPC (the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science) that took place in Brasilia, Brazil, from July 8-14, 2000 as part of the official Programme of Abralin (the Brazilian Linguistic Society). The symposium was organized by Leila Barbara based on a common interest in the issues of providing greater availability of scientific publications in the various branches of Linguistics, their possible formats, as well as different aspects of their organization. Leila Barbara invited two specialists in the area to share their experience: Luiz A. Marcuschi (UFPe), the former representative of Linguistics in CNPq's (the National Research Council) scientific committee and a member of the editorial committee of that agency ¾ in addition to sharing his wide experience, Professor Marcuschi prepared a detailed survey of Brazilian journals in Linguistics; the other member of the symposium, Professor Vilson Leffa (UCPEL), was the president of Alab (the Brazilian Association for Applied Linguistics) and is the editor of both the journal 'Linguagem e Ensino' and TELA ('Textos em Linguística Aplicada'), a compilation of texts in Applied Linguistics distributed on CD-ROM. The third participant, Leila Barbara spoke as Editor of D.E.L.T.A.
