Editorial
It is with pleasure that we launch the second issue of volume 17 of the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy (BJP). This time, once again we increase the number of published articles, reaching 23, of which 4 from authors outside Brazil and 8 written in English. It is important to stress the expressive increase in the number of manuscripts submitted for publication in the last 2 years, what should have been motivated by the regularity in the periodicity and good level of the published works, attracting more interested authors. The regularity is one of the main criteria for indexation of a periodic in the international data basis. Nowadays, BJP is indexed in Chemical Abstracts (CA), International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (IPA), Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Abstracts (MAPA), Natural Products Alert (NAPRALERT), Natural Products Updates (NPU), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), SCOPUS and CABI. It is also with pleasure that we announce to the readers the inclusion of three new names in the Editorial Board of the Journal, they are: Prof. Arnold J. Vlietinck, from the University of Antwerp, Holland, and the Brazilians Elisaldo A. Carlini and Juceni P. David, from the Universidade Federal de São Paulo and Universidade Federal da Bahia, respectively. It is also a year of realizations. The Brazilian Society of Pharmacognosy (SBFgnosia) is promoting two important scientific events. From June 4 to 6 in Araraquara city, São Paulo state, there will be the I Paulistan Symposium of Pharmacognosy (http://www.spf2007.hpg.ig.com.br/index.html or www.spf2007.hpg.com.br) and, from September 11 to 14 in Belém city, Pará state, there will be the VI Brazilian Symposium of Pharmacognosy (www3.ufpa.br/ppgcf). You can also access the two events at SBFgnosia's home page (http://www.sbfgnosia.org.br). We want to emphasize again that it is very important for our periodic that the works published in it are cited in other related publications. Only doing this we will achieve an Impact Factor, which is crucial for having a greater international visibility.
