EDITORIAL
At its 17th anniversary, the journal Acta Paulista de Enfermagem is in need of new changes in order to remain competitive as a vehicle for divulging nursing knowledge.
Globalization of this knowledge demands that scientific journals adequate themselves to some internationally established rules. Therefore, facing the strictness of international databases exigencies to indexing the journal is a healthy challenge, for it contributes to scientific nursing knowledge diffusion.
On the other hand, the quality criteria used by research support agencies to evaluate scientific journals tend to value the indexation at databases that reflects a high quality content, wide circulation and high impact factors.
In this context, has been looking for its international indexation and as a result of the first phase of the evaluation process by the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), was asked to perform some changes youll find in this issue. These changes are requirements for the second evaluation phase, next September.
The editors and the Publishing Committee are reorganizing the management structure of Acta Paulista de Enfermagem in order to speed up the publishing of findings of national and international scientists. The selection of theses articles must meet all the indexation criteria.
We believe we should see our scientific products as commodities that will be exposed to global consumers. The content of our product and the methods we used to produce it will determine the place in which it will exposed.
The choice of a journal to publish your scientific production must meet your needs as a scientist, that is, make visible your best findings with all the methodological strictness you used yourself. It must also consider the public to whom it is directed, that is, how many scientists will consume your findings.
This is our new mission:
to increase the publishing of articles with good scientific quality and
to offer professional education.
