The "Acta Paulista de Enfermagem" is now indexed in Web of Knowledge
Social and professional commitment to the discipline of nursing has been the main motivation fo nurses who have been engaged in the editorial services and editorial board of the "Acta Paulista de Enfermagem" since its creation 21 years ago. We are very proud to announce that the "Acta Paulista de Enfermagem" is now indexed in the Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters), formerly Institute of Scientific Information Web of Science, since few nursing kournals are indexed in this database. That is an outstanding accomplishment that need to be celebrated enthusiastically by the Brazilian community of nursing scholars and scientists.
The dissemination of scientific findings from main Brazilian researchers that reflect regional diversity related to health systems and health problems, the consistency of publication style, the periodicity of the journal bimonthly, and the qualification of national and international editorial board, all greatly contributed to the indexation of the "Acta Paulista de Enfermagem" in this important database in 1 year of the solicitation. Therefore, this is a great moment of enthusiasm among all persons who believed in this possibility and in the Acta Paulista de Enfermagem as a journal that disseminates high quality scientific knowledge of the discipline of nursing and other related disciplines that concern health care and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health. The "Acta Paulista de Enfermagem" is the third Brazilian nursing journal to join over 11,260 highest impact nursing and other disciplines journals worldwide, confirming the scientific quality ot its publications.
The goal is to continue to work diligently to achieve and maintain excellence by publishing regional and international research findings based on strong theoretical and methodological framework, which describe adequately the methodological approaches that allow research replication, add new scientific knowledge to the discipline or profession, have international visibility and impact, and readily acessible to practitioners, scholars, and sicentists.
The hope is that knowlegde developed through quality research will be accessed worldwide and will have impact in nursing and other disciplines. However, we still have a long way to go to achieve the desired level of impact factor, which is annualy calculated and disseminated by the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) where currently 62 worldwide nursing journals appear, 82% of them from United States. Our commitment will be to achieve this with quality publication of research findings.
We are thankful to all who contributed generously to this accomplishment, especially to former members of the editorial services and editorial board. Please accept our thanks and respectful recognition.
