A critical part in conservation biology of Mexican flora and fauna is the necessity to involve in these projects of propagation in captivity not just zoo, but education centers like universities, that have play a very insignificant role in this field. The emplacement of these programs will insure the survival of species that threaten in many ecosystems by the presence of anthropogenic activities and a growing population. An example of this is the rock rattlesnake Crotalus lepidus that lives in areas that are suffering from urbanization and farming expansion, this justifies the initiation of this program of management and propagation in captivity. Using the installation of the University Autonomous of Nuevo Leon, with the establishment of basic practical techniques base on essential captive parameters, our goal is to properly propagate these snakes and use this information obtained for other montane rattlesnake species and programs.
