The presence of the Anais at the 60^th Congress of the Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia

During the 60^th Congress of the Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia, recently held in Brasília–DF, the Anais promoted a symposium and invited well-known scientific publishing professionals in Brazil. The aim of the meeting was to discuss current topics that are relevant for quality of the journal. The following subjects were discussed: "Relevance of writing in quality of a scientific paper", by Prof. Maria Mércia Barradas, president of the Associação Brasileira de Editores Científicos [Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors] (ABEC); "The importance of methodological design in the final quality of investigation works", by Prof. Edgar Hamann, epidemiologist of the Universidade de Brasília – UnB; "Health descriptors", by Prof. Regina Célia Figueiredo Castro, librarian of BIREME, São Paulo (this subject is further addressed in this Editorial); "Authorship and ethics in scientific publications", by Prof. Bruno Cavalcanti, from the Graduate course in Biodentistry, Universidade Ibirapuera, São Paulo; and "CAPES assessment – scientific production and quality of Brazilian journals", by Prof. Silvio Alencar Marques, from Unesp-Botucatu and associated-editor of the Anais. The last lecture was based on an original work prepared by Prof. Jair Jesus Mari, form the Department of Psychiatry, Unifesp, São Paulo.

The participants could appreciate and debate about the several aspects related to scientific publishing, so that they may constantly improve their academic production. Based on this objective and aiming to achieve it, next we provide a text prepared by the team of librarians of the Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia, focusing on one of the most frequent causes of technical inappropriateness observed in articles submitted to the Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia. q
