Editorial

This first issue of 2015 brings important changes to Materials Research, which I expect to be of interest for authors and reviewers.

A new submission system, ScholarOne, was implemented in December 2014 and is now fully operational, enabling easier submission, reviewing and faster paper processing.

Also, the number of members in the Editorial Board had a significant increase to respond to the constant increasing in the submission rate in the last five years.

Three new Editors have joined the group of Associate Editors; thus, six Associate Editors are now co-responsible, together with the Editor-in-Chief, for processing the submitted papers. This change will certainly help in the improvement of all steps during paper processing and I would like to welcome and thank the new Associate Editors for accepting our invitation and the challenges associated with it.

The Editorial Commission was also changed significantly by partial renovation and increase in the number of members. The Editorial Commission is now formed by 36 members whose expertise´s cover most of the areas of interest for authors and readers of Materials Research. I am also very pleased to welcome the new members and to thank in advance all the members for their contribution in improving the scientific standards of Materials Research.

The new Editorial Board of Materials Research can be seen in the following addresses: http://www.scielo.br/revistas/mr/iedboard.htm or http://www.materialsresearch.org.br/site/about/view/board

The continuous support from the Brazilian funding agencies CNPq, CAPES and FAPESP, the Department of Materials Engineering, Federal University of São Carlos (DEMa/UFSCar) and the funding associations, Associação Brasileira de Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração (ABM), Associação Brasileira de Polímeros (ABPol) and Associação Brasileira de Cerâmica (ABC) are thankfully acknowledged.
