5th Brazilian Conference on Composite Materials

First, the Guest Editors express their gratitude to all authors for their efforts in completing the articles on time, as well as all reviewers for their great work in allowing this Special Issue to be released on schedule. The Guest Editors would like to thank Professor Walter Botta (former Materials Research Editor-in-Chief) for providing the opportunity to publish this Special Issue related to the BCCM 5 – 5th Brazilian Conference on Composite Materials, which took place in virtual format in Sao Carlos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, from January 18th to 22nd 2021. Mrs. Luciana Raymundo Zanotto (Materials Research Secretary) was very helpful in the organization of this Special Issue, which the Guest Editors appreciate.

Around 250 delegates attended the BCCM 5, including Professors and Post-Doctorate researchers, as well as PhD, Master, and undergraduate students from 21 countries (Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, India, Italy, France, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, UK, Germany, USA, Ireland, Austria, Algeria, San Marino, Netherlands, Sweden, and Morocco). There were over 160 oral presentations in five virtual rooms, as well as ten plenary lectures delivered by by Prof. Reinaldo Rodríguez Ramos (University of Havana – Cuba); Prof. Marino Quaresimin (University of Padova – Italy); Prof. Jandro L. Abot (The Catholic University of America – USA); Prof. Dirk Vandepitte (KU Leuven – Belgium); Prof. Amir Asadi (Texas A&M University – USA); Prof. Sofia Teixeira de Freitas (Delft University of Technology – The Netherlands); Prof. Mauricio V. Donadon (Technological Institute of Aeronautics – Brazil); Prof. José D. D. Melo (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – Brazil); Prof. Edson Cocchieri Botelho and coworkers (Sao Paulo State University – Brazil); Prof. Ricardo de Medeiros (Santa Catarina State University – Brazil).

This Special Issue contains revised and expanded versions of articles presented at BCCM 5 on topics such as "Material, Manufacturing, and Material Processing," "Material Testing, Characterization, and Material Properties," and "Numerical and Experimental Structure Analysis and Applications," among others. To put it another way, this Special Issue is devoted to scientists and engineers researching new breakthroughs in Composite Materials. We believe that this special issue will be a useful and timely resource for presenting new ideas, results, and findings in composite materials.
