IALP Student Prize

The Board has established an award for outstanding student research. This is in recognition of student achievement in the fields of:

- Communication Disorders;

- Speech and Hearing Sciences;

- Logopedics, Phoniatrics and Dysphagia.

Applicants for the award must be registered students at a recognised University or College course or program in any of the above areas when the research was completed. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply.

Applications will be in the form of a scientific paper based on the applicant's original research. The format must comply with the Editorial requirements of Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica (Guidelines for Authors can be found under Publications on the website of the journal: www.karger.ch/fpl).

The award consists of:

a. a certificate to be awarded during the Opening Ceremony of the forthcoming Congress;

b. bank draft for 250 Euros;

c. publication of the winning article in Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica;

d. free registration at the forthcoming Congress;

e. presentation of the winning article at the forthcoming Congress;

f. publication of the winning article at the IALP website.

Procedure

• Information and nomination form will be published on IALP website two years ahead of the Congress year.

• The Chair of the Education Committee of Logopedics receives the submissions of the papers. Deadline: 1 year ahead of the congress.

• The ED Committee will take care of the review-process.

• The ED Committee will make the recommendation to the Board by December of the year preceding the Congress.

• The student who obtains the highest rating from the reviewers will receive the award.

• The Office Manager sends the winner of the Student Prize a letter to notify him/her. The OM also notifies the non-winners. The comments of the reviewers will be enclosed.

• The winning student needs to submit the revised (according to the comments of the reviewers) manuscript within 6 weeks to the Karger Editorial Office, with a copy of the cover letter to the Editor in Chief and the IALP Office. They need to present it in the required format for the journal, following the guidelines for authors (www.karger.ch/fpl).

• The Office Manager informs the Karger Editorial Office about the name of the winner and when they can expect the manuscript.

• The chair of the ED Committee will arrange the presentation of the winning paper at a formal session during the Congress.

• The Office Manager informs the Congress Organisation about the name of the winner and about the free registration. The winner needs to fill out the registration form and send it to the Office Manager. The office manager sends this form to the Congress organisers with the request to send an invoice to the IALP Treasurer for this registration, before the deadline of the low fee. The name of the winning student needs to be known at the Registration Desk.

• The treasurer will bring 250 Euro to the Congress, to be given at the awarding

• The Office Manager will bring the framed certificate, to be given at the awarding.
