The 3rd Brazilian Conference on Composite Materials - BCCM3

The 3rd Brazilian Conference on Composite Materials (BCCM3) was held in August 28 to 31, 2016, in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This was the third of a series of conferences that takes place biennially in Brazil, intended to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest research and technology in the field of composite materials.

BCCM3 focused on 12 technical topics, and the presentations ranged from conventional technologies to new composite materials and emerging nano- and micro-scale processes in the field. Six plenary lectures were delivered by scientists of international prestige and representatives of the Brazilian industry, along with five key lectures given by renowned Brazilian researchers, with a good program balance for academia and industry attendees.

Around 300 delegates participated in this event, 162 of whom were undergraduate and graduate students. Furthermore, the number of submitted abstracts reached 366, and 252 of them became full papers. In this publication, you will find selected papers in the areas of Processing and Manufacturing Technologies, Experimental Techniques, Simulation in Composites, Lignocellulosic and Green Composites, Nanocomposites, Physical and Mechanical Properties, Damage and Fracture, and Recycling & Sustainability, among others.

The members of the BCCM3 Organizing Committee would like to express their deep appreciation to all the speakers and delegates for their contribution and participation, as well as the invaluable support of sponsors, Brazilian agencies and colleagues for the successful and joyful event in Gramado.

We are also grateful to the authors, the reviewers and all participants, and to Revista Matéria, for the present publication.
