Editorial Note
From the chromosomal analysis of Astyanax fasciatus to studies on Cerambicidae, the concentration of mercury in macrophytes and studies on the frugivory of Ramphastos toco, this edition of the Brazilian Journal of Biology encompasses a broad spectrum of scientific papers on Biology, Ecology, Ichthyology and Entomology. This diversity of papers reflects the wealth of studies on neotropical biology.
The Editorial Board is keeping up its efforts to maintain this diversity of papers in the BJB in order to meet the journal's goal of publishing high quality papers on neotropical biology. We will also publish two additional editions in 2006, thereby reducing the time of publication. Our efforts in 2006 will focus on speeding up the publication of papers.
The Editorial Board has also decided to publish papers grouped into two main areas: Biology and Ecology. This policy will be effective as from the next edition in May 2006.
