Brazilian Journal of Biology® The International Journal on Neotropical Biology
10 years with International Institute of Ecology®
In the 10 years that the International Institute of Ecology has been in charge of the Brazilian Journal of Biology® (BJB), 956 papers have been published. These papers were distributed in the following areas (Figure 1).
The number of papers published annually has increased from 80 in 1998 to 140 in 2008 (Figure 2). Not only has the number increased, but the quality has been enhanced with the participation of highly-qualified advisors with international experience. We thank all specialists and advisors from several disciplines that have helped BJB and the authors to improve the quality of the papers. In 2008 we will publish a special number, "Biodiversity in the Neotropics". Several papers have been submitted and are in the process of evaluation by our peer review system.
We congratulate the scientific community for this achievement and we are sure that BJB is fulfilling the aims of the scientific community of biologists working in the neotropics.
