Editorial

Dealing with the increasing demand for changes and adaptation.

As seen in nature, behavioral changes are sometimes necessary to accommodate the challenges of the environment. There is no reason for a Journal to exist if it is not read by an increasing number of readers. Our Journal has changed. Starting this issue, The Journal of Applied Oral Science will replace the Revista da Faculdade de Odontologia de Bauru. While our headquarter will still be located at Bauru School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo, major modifications will be realized in this new version of the Journal. As can be noticed from this Editorial, the entire Journal is now published in English. This will make it available for a larger number of readers and contributors. The Guidelines for authors were modified in order to simplify and clarify the steps for submission of manuscripts. With the contributors and readers in mind, the modifications intend to stimulate and offer a new space for publication of peer reviewed, high quality research in the field of Oral Science. All significant changes, however, do require time for completion. In respect to our contributors, all manuscripts that have already been submitted in Portuguese will be considered and, if accepted, published in the original language. New submissions will only be considered when originally written in English (www.fob.usp.br/revista).

In this issue, Dr. Conti and colleagues focused on the etiology and management of orofacial pain. The review is authored by an internationally recognized group who has largely contributed to the knowledge of the area.

Our Review Board has been increased with a significant number of international referees. With their help, we expect to achieve a high level of recognition as a source of serious and respectable research produced not only in Brazil, but also from abroad. This is the goal of the Editorial team and we invite you to be a significant part of these changes for the better.

We would like to express our greatest gratitude to our staff who has managed the hardest part of the internal changes with enthusiasm and competence, to the members of our Review Board who gladly accepted the changes, to our contributors who understood the need for the changes, and to Dr. Maria Fidela de Lima Navarro, current Dean of Bauru School of Dentistry, who has measured no efforts to support our will.
