EDITORIAL

Dear Readers,

I am obligated to start this editorial by answering to the first "Letter to the Editor" we received. Dr. Zbys Fedorowicz, Director of The Cochrane Collaboration, The Bahrain Branch of the UK Cochrane Centre, highlighted the current requirement that all trials to be published in the Journal of Applied Oral Science should have been prospectively registered according to WHO and ICJME policies. He also suggested that consideration should be given to including a requirement that all trials for publication should conform to the CONSORT statement and that these reports of clinical trials should also begin with a systematic review of other evidence. I kindly thank Dr. Fedorowicz for his compliments, and assure that all efforts will be taken towards the CONSORT statement and systematic review of evidence in the clinical trials published in the Journal of Applied Oral Science. We hope this first "Letter to the Editor" encourages other contributors to send their opinions, suggestions and criticism to us. This will certainly drive us in a direction to always improve the quality of our journal.

I also would like to inform that our team was surprised with the inclusion of our journal in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE^TM) starting from the first issue of 2007. We had previously announced the inclusion of our journal in this distinguished database starting from the first issue of 2008. We thank Thomson Reuters^® for this decision. It is important to emphasize that SCIE^TM format is available through Web of Science^® and the online version, SciSearch^®.
