Global year against visceral pain
The Brazilian Society for the Study of Pain, as a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, is committed to the global campaign against visceral pain, which has started in mid October 2012 and will end in October 2013.
The objective is to join worldwide forces to elucidate health professionals and patients about VISCERAL PAIN, disease which surreptitiously torments the lives of millions of people, disabling them for social and labor life.
Visceral pain is one of the commonest reasons for looking for outpatient or hospital assistance and is associated to different types of chronic pain, especially chest and abdominal pain, and health system costs related to visceral pain, especially abdominal pain, are high.
Its prevalence is high since approximately 25% of the population report some visceral pain during their lives.
Let's unite in this campaign to spread information about visceral pain pathophysiology and management throughout our country; educating health professionals to observe visceral pain-related issues in their interactions with patients, increasing the awareness about the need to control visceral pain among governmental authorities, media professionals and the general population.
Please join us in this worthwhile campaign; let's say NO to VISCERAL PAIN!
