Editorial

We are pleased to introduce the third and final issue of Direito GV Law Review of 2016 (vol. 12, No. 3, Sep.–Dec. 2016).

This issue contains twelve original and diverse articles from Brazilian and foreign researchers, along with a book review.

As stated in the previous Editorial (http://ref.scielo.org/zmkx9s), with our expansion from two to three issues per year, we hope manuscript publication will become more agile. However, merely changing from two to three issues per year and handling submissions faster are not enough.

In light of the recent increase in the number of articles we receive each year, other measures are necessary. One of our main strategies is to reinforce the desk review mechanisms, i.e., the analysis of the minimum formal requirements as described in our Editorial Policy. Another is to make a more rigorous assessment of the article's compliance with the journal's editorial priorities. This has led to an increase in the immediate rejection rate.

Direito GV Law Review reiterates its focus on publishing texts that analyze a well-delineated theme, tackle a clear research question or problem, contain a well-chosen and well-explained methodology, and makes an original contribution to knowledge. We give preference to interdisciplinary articles, those that deal with empirical or applied research, and that fit into the law & development research field, which is the focus of FGV SP Law School's master's program.

These measures are necessary so that our ad-hoc reviewers are sent only texts that meet the journal's editorial priorities and hence have a real chance of publication. After the double-blind assessment stage, a further selection has to be made. No more than ten percent of the articles submitted are published. Therefore, we encourage the community of authors to review our Editorial Policy.

Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to the professors and researchers who acted as ad-hoc reviewers in 2016. Their contribution is voluntary, unpaid and anonymous, yet indispensable for the selection of this special final group of articles.

The thorough and timely work of ad-hoc reviewers is crucial for the progress of Brazilian legal scholarship.

We thank you very much!
