The number 5 of the sixth volume of the IBRACON Structures and Materials Journal (October 2013) is now released. Seven articles on relevant topics related to concrete materials and structures are published. The first article draws on the punching resistance of internal slab-column connections with double-headed shear studs. Experimental results of 36 tests are compared with theoretical results using recommendations presented by ACI 318, NBR6118, Eurocode 2 and also the Critical Shear Crack Theory. The second article presents the first part of an experimental investigation on the use of steel-concrete bond tests for estimating axial compressive strength of concrete. An experimental study on reinforced concrete pile caps with external, embedded and partially embedded socket with smooth interface is the topic addressed by the third article. Another article brings an experimental evaluation of prevention methods for the interface between masonry infill walls and concrete columns. The fifth article presents a study on the influence of the number of floors on the instability parameter of reinforced wall-or core-braced buildings. The next article analyzes the impact strength and abrasion resistance of high strength concrete with rice husk ash and rubber tires. This number finishes with an article that explores life cycle-based sustainability indicators for building structural frames in concrete.

These articles are results of original and unpublished research, and have been reviewed by members of our community with recognized expertise in the corresponding areas. We acknowledge the authors' and reviewers' efforts to maintain the high level of our journal.
