Number 4, Volume 26 of Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia Journal comprises 10 articles on different aspects of the science Limnology. Two articles were developed on phytoplankton: one evaluated the temporal dynamics, in a short period of time (diel variation), of functional groups in a pond located in northeastern Brazil, while the other studied the long-term dynamics (ten-year period) in a lake in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Two other articles studied fish: one on the nutritional status of five species of a reservoir located in the state of Mato Grosso, and one on the trophic ecology of two species of piranha in the Pantanal Matogrossense. Epilithic diatom community was studied in headwater streams in Rio Grande do Sul state, and taxonomic and ecological characteristics of placoderm desmids of the periphyton associated with Eichhornia azurea were studied in a southeastern Brazilian reservoir. Two other articles in this issue focused on physical and chemical aspects and classified environments studied in relation to trophic state. One study was conducted in small and medium-sized rivers in the state of Sao Paulo and one in a reservoir in the province of Tucumán in Argentina. An experimental study evaluated the influence of a filter feeder fish (Tilapia rendalli) on the dynamics of phytoplankton. Finally, an article addressed the nitrogen and phosphorus saturation point of two species of aquatic macrophytes. The articles in this issue reflect well the characteristics of Acta, which publishes articles carried out in different geographical regions, on different aquatic communities, with basic or applied focus. The articles in this Number 4 of Acta show that limnological studies are important to promote scientific knowledge and also present great contribution to the evaluation of human impacts on aquatic environments. This number completes Volume 26 of 2014 and fulfills the established periodicity. Moreover, our Journal has now an impact factor in SciELO and Scopus, as well as the factor "h". I would like to thank the referees who have contributed to this number, and I am especially grateful to the authors that have sent manuscripts for review to the journal of the Brazilian Association of Limnology.
