Galileo, Maria Helena M.; Monné, Miguel A.

    Resumo em Inglês:

The new genus Hovorelus and its type-species, H. splendidus sp. nov., are described from Peru. The males of Myzomorphus flavipes Galileo, 1987 and Poekilosoma carinatipenne Lane, 1941, both with sexual dimorphism, are described for the first time.

    Couri, Márcia S.

    Resumo em Inglês:

Apsil Malloch, 1929 comprises 10 species endemic to Patagonia and southern Chile. A new species, Apsil flavithorax from Chile is described and illustrated, from three females.
  • Revalidação de Mauesini (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae), transferência de gêneros, sinonímias e novos táxons

    Julio, Carlos Eduardo de Alvarenga

    Resumo em Inglês:

The tribe Mauesini Lane, 1956 is revalidated (type genus, Mauesia Lane, 1956). The following genera are transferred from Anisocerini to Mauesini: Taurolema Thomson, 1860 and Coroicoia Lane, 1966. New synonyms proposed: Taurolema nasicornis Schwarzer, 1930 with T. albopunctata Gounelle, 1906 and T. lineata Fuchs, 1966 with T. cicatricosa Lane, 1966. New species described from Brazil: Taurolema nigropilosa (Espírito Santo); Mauesia bicornis and M. acorniculata (both from Amazonas). A key to the genera of Mauesini is added.
  • Dieta de Traupíneos (Passeriformes, Emberizidae) no Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca, Minas Gerais, Brasil

    Manhães, Marco A.

    Resumo em Inglês:

Eleven species of tanagers in Ibitipoca State Park, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, were studied for 12 months and the birds diet was described. Fruits of 52 plant species were the main item consumed for all tanagers, representing 59.70% of all items in 1330 events, although different proportions in the use of this resource have been found among the bird species. The main plant families found were Myrtaceae with eight species accounting for 22.29% (n=177), and Melastomataceae with seven species accounting for 22.29% (n=177) of fruit intake. The most frequent plant species in the diet was Cecropia glaziovi Snethl. (Cecropiaceae), which made up 17.76% (n=141) of fruit intake of all species of tanagers. Arthropod consumption came second with 22.63% (n=301), but flowers, leaves, nectar, food remains left by tourists and galls were also represented. Several environmental features influenced diet composition. An Asteraceae, Vanillosmopsis erythropappa Schultz, very common in the park, was important for some birds as its flowers attracted arthropods and its branches and leaves were used as a substrate for insectivory. Fruit intake rate, some bird-plant interaction and features of food-handling were also discussed, pointing to the importance of these birds for the structure of the heterogeneous local landscape, possibly through the spread of seeds of different plant species.
  • Revisão do gênero Natagaima (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae)

    Julio, Carlos Eduardo de Alvarenga

    Resumo em Inglês:

Natagaima Lane, 1972 is revised and provisionally transferred from Anisocerini to Acanthoderini. The genus and the type species, Natagaima balteata Lane, 1972, are redescribed and two new species added: N. moacyri, from Colombia (Tumaco) and N. heloisae, from Ecuador (Napo). All the species are illustrated and keyed.

Matesco, Viviana C.; Fortes, Nora D. F.; Grazia, Jocélia

    Resumo em Inglês:

The morphological characteristics of the egg and five immature stages of Acrosternum obstinatum (Stål, 1860), fed on passion fruit, are described and illustrated. Biological data are also provided.
  • Estágios imaturos de Oebalus poecilus (Heteroptera, Pentatomidae)

Greve, Caroline; Fortes, Nora D. F.; Grazia, Jocélia

    Resumo em Inglês:

The immature stages of the rice bug Oebalus poecilus (Dallas, 1851) are described. The egg and the external morphological characters of the five nymphal stages were described and illustrated. The nymphs were exposed to two different photoperiods to induce seasonal forms to detect morphological differences.
  • Análise filogenética de Questidae e Clitellata: o problema da parafilia de "Polychaeta"

    Garraffoni, André R. S.; Amorim, Dalton S.

    Resumo em Inglês:

Hypotheses about the phylogenetic relationships within Questidae, and the relationships of this taxon with Clitellata using parsimony analysis of 35 external and internal morphological characters of 36 terminal taxons are presented. The results show the position of Questidae within Scolecida and Clitellata. Within the Polychaeta, Clitellata is the sister group of the Questidae. The results also indicate that the Scolecida, Microdrilli, Polychaeta, Oligochaeta and Tubificidae are paraphyletic. Clitellata, Megadrilli, Questidae, Hirudinae are monophyletic.
