Este artigo analisa indicadores de risco e de proteção identificados em famílias com denúncia de abuso físico parental. Participaram deste estudo vinte famílias de nível socioeconômico baixo. O método de pesquisa constitui-se de entrevista semi-estruturada e inserção ecológica. Foram identificados indicadores de risco relacionados aos: 1) papéis familiares; 2) patologias; 3) práticas educativas e 4) comportamentos agressivos. Os indicadores de proteção apontam para: 1) rede de apoio social e afetiva; 2) valorização das conquistas e 3) desejo de melhoria futura. Conclui-se que os indicadores de risco são severos e diversificados, muitas vezes atuando de forma intensa no contexto familiar. Assim, podem permitir o uso de força física nas relações pais-filhos, ao mesmo tempo em que indicadores de proteção não estão suficientemente articulados para inibir tal ação. A compreensão dessa dinâmica possibilita a realização de ações educacionais e de saúde que visem a inibir e prevenir a violência intrafamiliar.

This article analyses risk and protection factors identified in families with a history of parental physical abuse. Twenty families of low socioeconomic level participated in this study. The data were obtained through a semi-structured interview and ecological insertion. The risk indicators found were related to: 1) the different roles in the family; 2) pathologies; 3) educative practices; and, 4) aggressive behaviors. The protection indicators are related to: 1) the network of social and affective support; 2) achievements valorization; and, 3) the wish of future improvement. The conclusion is that the risk indicators are severe and diversified, acting many times on a intense way in the familiar context. Thereby, they can allow the use of physical strength in parents-children relations, at the same time that protection indicators are not totally to inhibit such action. These risk and protection indicators can be comprehended as important instruments for the analysis and implementation of educational and health actions that seek the prevention and inhibition of intrafamily violence.

O trabalho tem como objetivo abordar o significado da medida socioeducativa de liberdade assistida no contexto da doutrina de proteção integral. Por meio de uma revisão crítica da literatura, recordam-se conceitos e práticas utilizados na vigência da antiga doutrina da situação irregular, sustentando-se a importância de ruptura com modelos de atendimento empregados naquela época. Expõe-se, por fim, referenciais e procedimentos indicados aos que atuam com crianças e adolescentes que aportam à justiça da infância e da juventude, com destaque para ações e parcerias que podem ser estabelecidas em programas socioeducativos.

The present work intends to analyze the significance of the socioeducative measure of assisted freedom within the context of the integral protection doctrine. By means of a critical revision of the literature, it also brings up concepts and practices used during the old doctrine of irregular situation, emphasizing the importance of rupture with the models of attendance then used. Finally, the article points out references and procedures indicated to those who act with children and adolescents who come to the child and youth court, with emphasis on actions and partnerships that can be established in social educative programs.

A asma brônquica é uma doença complexa e interfere com a qualidade de vida desses doentes. Pretendemos, com a presente investigação, estudar a relação das variáveis sócio-demográficas (género, idade e grau de instrução), clínicas (gravidade da doença, duração e tipo clínico) e psicológicas (cognições, emoções e comportamentos) com a qualidade de vida do doente asmático. Cinqüenta doentes asmáticos do Departamento de Pneumologia e Imunoalergologia dos Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra preencheram cinco questionários de auto-resposta que avaliavam as variáveis psicológicas em estudo. Os dados clínicos relativamente à doença foram igualmente recolhidos.Os nossos resultados revelam-nos que a qualidade de vida se relaciona com um conjunto de variáveis que podemos denominar biopsicossociais (e.g., uma menor qualidade de vida relaciona-se com uma maior idade, menor escolaridade, uma atitude mais negativa face à asma, designada "estigma", cognições disfuncionais e comportamentos/emoções-problema relacionados com a asma). Implicações ao nível do tratamento são apresentadas.

Bronchial asthma is a complex disease and it brings limitations to patients' quality of life. In this research we intend to study the relationship of sociodemographic (gender, age and educational level), medical (severity of the disease, duration and clinical type) and psychological variables (cognitions, emotions and behaviour) with patients' quality of life. Fifty asthmatic patients from the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Immunoallergic diseases of Coimbra's University Hospitals completed five self-report questionnaires that measured the psychological variables under study. Medical data were also collected. Our results suggest that quality of life is related to a set of variables that can be named as biopsychosocial (e.g., a poor quality of life is related to a higher age, lower level of education, a more negative attitude towards asthma, named "stigma", disfunctional cognitions and behavioural/emotional problems associated to asthma). Implications in relation with the treatment are also presented.

Pensar na possibilidade da amizade como espaço de experimentação capaz de irromper formas fixas de subjetividade e sociabilidade constituindo uma forma de resistência política representa um convite à alteridade numa relação experimental designada pelo compromisso irreversível com o outro. Este trabalho pretende descrever e discutir alguns resultados de uma pesquisa de mestrado que investigou as semânticas da amizade e a possibilidade da amizade se configurar como espaço de experimentação política. Buscando compreender como os laços de amizade podem constituir relações privilegiadas de experimentação de outras formas de relacionamento incompatíveis com os modelos individualistas e excludentes do capitalismo, entrevistou-se trabalhadores de cooperativas populares sobre as suas histórias de amizade. Os resultados dessa pesquisa destacam que os laços solidários que florescem entre amigos nas classes populares escapam aos imperativos neoliberais e resistem à situação de opressão, revelando modos criativos e astuciosos de enfrentamento de condições espoliantes, contribuindo para reverter situações de penúria.

To think about the experience of friendship as a space of experimentation which may bring about fixed forms of subjectivity and sociability, thus constituting a form of political resistance, represents an invitation to a state of otherness in an experimental relationship designated by the irreversible commitment with the other. This paper intends to describe and discuss some results of a research elaborated in a Master’s Dissertation project which investigated the semantics of friendship and the possibility of friendship turning into a space of political experimentation. Trying to understand how friendship ties may constitute privileged forms of experimentation of other forms of relationship, incompatible with the individualist and excluding models of capitalism, the authors conducted several interviews with workers of popular cooperatives (an autonomous and non-hierarchical form of work-group organization) about their friendship histories. The results of this survey highlight that the solidarity ties that flourish among friends of the lower class working groups do not coincide with the neoliberal imperatives but rather resist against oppressive situation, revealing creative ways of facing unfair working conditions, thus contributing to revert them.

O artigo traz reflexões a partir da apresentação de acontecimentos sócio-históricos do sistema escravista percorrendo dois ângulos: sociológico e psicológico. Em relação ao primeiro, por se tratar de uma visão de mundo do que é "ser humano", deu-se ênfase à ideologia do branqueamento para compreender a influência de tal ideologia nos processos de construção das subjetividades de afro-brasileiros, e o segundo, ancorando-o no entendimento de que as relações sociais geram afetos que influem no desenvolvimento biopsicossocial dos envolvidos, afirma que as subjetividades não se fazem ao acaso, não são substâncias em si mesmas, ao contrário, são construídas por meio das várias práticas sociais. Por fim, intenta-se chamar a atenção dos profissionais da Psicologia para refletirem sobre a necessidade de revisão das formas de trabalho com as diversidades populacionais para contribuir no fomento aos estudos dessa temática bem como aos serviços que a área possa oferecer aos indivíduos desse grupo.

This article aims to contribute for studies and research about questions related to the process of subjectivity of afro-Brazilians. Think over this theme was made throughout the presentation of social and historical facts of the slavery system based on two aspects: sociological and psychological. Firstly, the possibility of someone’s view of the world, what does it mean to be a "human being", what are the ideologies that grounded these constructions. Secondly because those subjectivities are not made out of nothing and they are not substances in themselves; on the other side, they are built by many social practices, producing feelings that affect the biopsychosocial potential development of everyone involved with it. Finally, the intention is to call psychologists’ attention to review the way so as to ferment studies about this theme and services that this area may offer for individuals of this group.

Neste artigo, demonstraremos que para Freud fornecer uma explicação clinicamente eficaz para a histeria, ele progride da neurologia para a psicologia. A chave que lhe permitirá esta transposição é o conceito de representação em Afasias... porque a representação, neste texto, é uma metáfora psicológica substitutiva de processos fisiológicos complexos, isto é, o fenômeno representacional psíquico revela-se uma função dos processos neurológicos que o constituem.

In this paper, we will demonstrate that in order to Freud give an efficient clinic explanation for hysteria, he progresses from neurology to psychology. The key that will allow him this transposition is the concept of representation in Aphasia… because representation in this text is a psychological metaphor substitutive of complex physiological processes, i. e., the psychic representational phenomenon appears as a function of the neurological processes which constitute it.

Este artigo se propõe a desenvolver um estudo conceitual dos diversos enfoques presentes na obra de Foucault para o estudo das práticas clínicas. Foucault mantém a preocupação de distinguir, a todo tempo, a análise dos vetores de dominação e dos vetores de liberação em suas diferentes formas conceituais. Mostra-se cético em relação ao potencial liberador das práticas clínicas, ainda que admita que possam manter "certa autonomia". A amplitude do conceito de artes da existência ultrapassa o campo das práticas clínicas, estrito senso, e pode englobar todo um conjunto de práticas psicossociais em curso hoje no país.

This article intends to develop a conceptual investigation of the different approaches that appear in Foucault’s work for the study of clinical practices. Foucault is continuously worried about distinguishing the analysis of domination vectors and liberation vectors in their distinct conceptual forms. He shows himself skeptical in relation to the releasing potential of clinical practices, even though he admits that they can keep "some level of autonomy". The amplitude of the concept of arts of existence exceeds the field of clinical practices, in a strict sense, and can involve a whole set of current psychosocial practices in Brazil.

A ocorrência de uma tentativa de suicídio é forte preditor para que um suicídio venha a acontecer. Neste artigo, aborda-se a tentativa de suicídio considerando-o um ato-dor decorrente da vivência de situações traumáticas. A partir da análise de cinco casos de pessoas que tentaram o suicídio, investiga-se a complexidade dessa situação por meio de uma metodologia qualitativa. Uma série de quatro entrevistas semidirigidas, elaborada para esse estudo, foi o principal instrumento para coletar os dados. Esses foram analisados por meio do método de Análise Interpretativa e com base na Teoria Psicanalítica. Foram identificadas cinco asserções que permitiram concluir a importância do dano psíquico provocado pelo trauma, assim como evidenciar a relevância do acolhimento e da escuta na situação da tentativa de suicídio.

The suicide attempt occurrence is a strong predictor for a suicide to happen. The present article considers a suicide attempt as a pain-act resulting from traumatic living experiences. The complex psychic situation of five individuals who attempted to commit suicide was analyzed through qualitative methodology. Four semi-constructed interviews have been carried out and they were the main instrument for data collecting. The data were analyzed through the Interpretative Analysis methodology based on Psychoanalytic Theory. Five assertions have been identified, which allowed us to understand the importance of the psychic damage caused by trauma as well as the relevance of careful listening and acceptance in the situation of suicide attempt.

Normas de concretude para 909 palavras foram coletadas utilizando-se uma escala de julgamento com sete pontos, onde cada extremo representava os níveis altamente abstrato ou concreto, respectivamente. Os resultados evidenciaram uma distribuição bi-modal sugerindo que as palavras podem ser classificadas nas categorias concreta ou abstrata. A confiabilidade média das normas foi r=0,97. Não foram detectadas influências do sexo, idade, freqüência de ocorrência das palavras em materiais escritos ou tamanho da categoria nos julgamentos de concretude. Os resultados sugerem que a concretude pode ser considerada como um atributo independente das palavras.

Concreteness norms were collected for 909 words using a seven point judgment scale, where each extremity highly represented the abstract or concrete levels, respectively. Results showed a bi-modal distribution suggesting that words may be classified either as concrete or abstract. The average reliability of the norms was r=0.97. Concreteness judgments were not influenced by sex, age, word written frequency or category size. The results indicate that concreteness may be considered as an independent word attribute.

O debate sobre procedimentos e técnicas de tratamento de dados é relevante para o contexto de produção e avanço do conhecimento em várias áreas do saber. Os Modelos de Equações Estruturais são um conjunto de técnicas de tratamento de dados que têm recebido grande atenção de pesquisadores, especialmente nos últimos 10 anos. Esse procedimento de tratamento de dados possui suas raízes relacionadas a distintas áreas do conhecimento: a biometria, a econometria e a psicometria. Como conseqüência de suas peculiaridades, o relato científico em Modelos de Equações Estruturais deve considerar vários aspectos relevantes, como a definição teórica do modelo a ser testado, a especificação e identificação do modelo, além de aspectos de estimação e mensuração dos índices de adequação. Vários desses elementos são apresentados e discutidos no presente artigo focando-se nas possibilidades de aplicação na Psicologia e em ciências correlatas. Perspectivas futuras e limitações dos Modelos de Equações Estruturais são discutidas.

The debate concerning procedures and techniques of data treatment is relevant in the context of production and progress of knowledge in a broad range of subject areas. In the past decade, a framework of data treatment methods denominated Structural Equation Modeling received a great deal of attention from researchers. This data treatment procedure has its historical origins related to different areas of knowledge like biometrics, econometrics and psychometrics. As a consequence of its unique characteristics, scientific report in Structural Equation Modeling should consider various relevant aspects, like the theoretical definition of the model to be tested, the specification and identification of the model, as well as estimation and measurement aspects of the adequation indices. Several of these elements are presented and discussed in the present article, focusing on the possibilities of practical application in the field of Psychology and related sciences. In addition, future perspectives and limitations of Structural Equation Modeling are also discussed.

Investigando variáveis que podem interferir no seguir regras, 16 universitários foram expostos a um procedimento de escolha segundo o modelo. A tarefa: apontar cada um dos três estímulos de comparação, em seqüência. A Fase 1 era de linha de base; na Fase 2, a seqüência correta era estabelecida por contingências; e na Fase 3 era apresentada a regra discrepante das contingências. Manipulou-se os esquemas utilizados para reforçar as seqüências corretas nas Fases 2 e 3. Para os Grupos 1 e 2, os esquemas eram CRF na Fase 2, CRF na Fase 3 do Grupo 1 e FR 3 na Fase 3 do Grupo 2. Para os Grupos 3 e 4, os esquemas eram FR 3 na Fase 2, FR 3 na Fase 3 do Grupo 3 e CRF na Fase 3 do Grupo 4. A história construída na Fase 2 e o esquema na Fase 3 interferiram no seguir regras.

In an investigation of variables that may interfere with rule-following, 16 college students were exposed to a matching-to-sample procedure, where they had to point, in sequence, to three comparison stimuli. Baseline was referred in Phase 1. In Phase 2, the correct sequence was established by contingencies, and in Phase 3 the discrepant rule to contingencies was presented. The reinforcement schedules in Phases 2 and 3 were manipulated as follows: For Groups 1 and 2, a CRF schedule was used in Phase 2 and also in Phase 3 of Group 1; schedule FR3 was employed in Phase 3 of Group 2. For Groups 3 and 4, the schedules were FR3 in Phase 2, FR3 in Phase 3 of Group 3, and CRF in Phase 3 of Group 4. The history constructed in Phase 2, as well as the schedule in Phase 3, interfered with rule-following.

Pesquisas têm demonstrado diferenças nos efeitos dos comportamentos verbais modelado e instruído sobre o comportamento verbal e não-verbal. Este estudo investigou efeitos da modelagem do comportamento verbal e das instruções sobre o comportamento verbal (falar sobre encaixar peças) e o não-verbal (encaixar peças azuis e vermelhas, grandes e pequenas e quadradas e circulares) de 10 crianças, entre 8 e 9 anos de idade. A coleta de dados foi realizada em duas condições com cinco participantes. Condição 1: modelagem do comportamento verbal. Condição 2: apresentação de instruções para o comportamento não-verbal. Quando ocorreu a modelagem do comportamento verbal foram observadas mudanças correspondentes no comportamento não-verbal. As instruções produziram imediata adesão do comportamento não-verbal e, na seqüência, o desempenho foi alterado. Esses dados reafirmam a importância de ampliar o conhecimento dos efeitos da modelagem do comportamento verbal e das instruções sobre o comportamento de crianças em jogos como o utilizado nesta pesquisa.

Research has been shown differences in effects of shaped and instructed verbal behaviors on verbal and nonverbal behavior. This study investigated the effects of verbal behavior shaping and of the instructions about verbal behavior (to talk about setting pieces) and the nonverbal behavior (to set blue and red, large and small, and square and circular pieces) of 10 children, between 8 and 9 years old. The data collection was made in two conditions with five participants. Condition 1: verbal behavior shaping. Condition 2: presentation of instructions for nonverbal behavior. When verbal behavior shaping occurred, correspondent changes at the nonverbal behavior were observed. Instructions produced immediate nonverbal behavior adhesion and the performance was altered. These data reaffirm the importance of expanding the knowledge about the effects of verbal behavior shaping and of instructions about children’s behavior in games like the one used in this research.
