Este artigo baseia-se num ponto de vista segundo o qual a sócio-construção da ação e da linguagem é fundamentalmente determinada pela sócio-história das interações e das atividades de linguagem em que sujeitos em constituição estão e estiveram imersos. A análise dos dados aqui exposta busca demonstrar que diferentes matrizes de atividade de linguagem (Schneuwly, 1988), ligadas à construção de diferentes gêneros do discurso, terão efeitos diversos na constituição das formas de ação e das formas de dizer a ação (linguagem) (Bronckart, 1997). Os gêneros familiares dialógicos (Bakhtin, 1979) seriam responsáveis tanto pela constituição das normas de ação (ação teleológica, Bronckart, 1997), como por sua normalização (ação normativa). Em momentos mais avançados da constituição da linguagem, diferentes gêneros narrativos - em especial, os relatos e os contos de fadas -, tendo as particularidades de serem gêneros construídos relativamente cedo pelas crianças e de tematizarem as ações (em curso, experenciadas, re-(criadas)) de diferentes maneiras - referencialidade conjunta e disjunta (Bronckart, Schneuwly et al., 1985) -, teriam um papel importante na sócio-construção de discursos sobre a ação e, a partir disto, também sobre sua consciência.

This paper is based on a viewpoint that takes the social construction of action and language as being essentially determined by the social history of the interactions and the language-patterned activities in which subjects under constitution are, and were, immersed. Data analysis will support that different patterns of language activities (Schneuwly, 1988), linked to the building of discourse genres, will have various effects on the constitution of action forms and on the ways of speaking about them (Bronckart, 1997). Dialogic family genres (Bakhtin, 1979) would be responsible for both: the constitution of action forms (teleological action (Bronckart, 1997)), and their normalisation (normative action). At other moments of language constitution, different narrative genres - reports and fairy tales, in special - will unfold. Due to their relatively early constitution by the children and the fact that they are focused on action (the action on-course, the experienced action and the (re-)created actions) in different manners - conjunctive and disjunctive referentiality -, they should play an important role in the social construction of discourses about the action and, therefore, in its awareness.

O propósito desta pesquisa é analisar um corpus de 185 abstracts de conferência, escritos em inglês e espanhol, para determinar sua estrutura interna e suas características lingüísticas específicas. Foram levadas em conta quatro variáveis (idioma, área de pesquisa, "moves" e estilo) para estabelecer semelhanças e diferenças entre os textos, em um intento para determinar possíveis características universais de todos os abstracts. Os resultados mostram que os abstracts analisados compartilham algumas das características, mas também há diferenças que dependem do idioma do texto e da área de pesquisa. Estes resultados parecem ter implicações pedagógicas para o ensino de escritura de abstracts como também para ler estes tipos de textos.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse a corpus of 185 conference abstracts, written in either English or Spanish, to determine their internal structure and specific linguistic features. Four variables were taken into account (language, research area, moves and style) to establish similarities and differences between the texts, in an attempt to determine possible universal features of all abstracts. Results show that the abstracts analysed share some of the features, but that there are also differences depending on the language of the text and the area of research. These results seem to have pedagogical implications for the teaching of writing of abstracts as well as for reading these kinds of texts.

O presente trabalho apresenta os resultados da exploração de um corpus eletrônico de português do Brasil. O corpus foi coletado a partir de notícias distribuídas na Internet pela Radiobrás. As notícias foram retiradas de reportagens de jornais e de transcrições de notícias de TV. A ênfase do trabalho é a descrição de algumas características lingüísticas necessárias para a produção de materiais para aulas particulares de português oferecidas na Grã-Bretanha. Ao apresentar a descrição de vários itens lexicais e gramaticais dentro do paradigma da lingüística do corpus, o trabalho oferece uma contribuição pioneira no sentido de iniciar a lingüística do corpus do português. O trabalho conclui que o tipo de suporte disponível em materiais de referência existentes como livros de curso, gramáticas e dicionários tendem a ser inadequados para o aluno de português como língua estrangeira já que eles não se baseiam em amostras autênticas de linguagem como aquelas proporcionadas por um corpus eletrônico.

The study reports the results of the exploration of a machine-readable corpus of Brazilian Portuguese. The corpus was collected from news distributed on the Internet. The news items themselves consisted of excerpts from newspaper stories and TV transcripts. The focus of the paper is on the description of selected language features needed for the production of teaching materials for private Portuguese classes in Britain. Several lexical and grammatical items are described using corpus linguistics tools in what amounts to pioneering work on corpus analysis of Portuguese. The paper concludes that guidance provided by existing reference materials such as textbooks, grammars and dictionaries are inadequate since these sources are not based on samples of authentic language.

O conceito de tipo de texto, após uma fase em que foi enfocado sob uma ótica cognitivista por van Dijk, com base na teoria dos esquemas cognitivos de Rumelhart, passou a ser objeto de estudo de outros pesquisadores (Adam, Swales) sob novas perspectivas. Estes estudos recentes revigoraram o debate, proporcionando material teórico para a rediscussão do conceito de tipo em termos psicolingüísticos. Utilizando uma metodologia de pesquisa bibliográfica, o presente artigo pretende, assim, retomar a discussão sobre a superestrutura textual.

The text type concept, after a phase in which it was focused on a cognitive view by van Dijk, based on the cognitive schemata theory of Rumelhart, became an object of study by other researchers (Adam, Swales) in new perspectives. These recent studies strengthened the debate, providing theoretical material for the re-discussion of the concept of type in psycholinguistic terms. Using a methodology of bibliographic research, the present article proposes to retake a discussion about textual superstructure.

O objetivo do artigo é descrever as estratégias de focalização no português brasileiro, observando a interface sintaxe-fonologia. Defendo a independência da prosódia na materialização do fenômeno e proposto a relação "dissociacionista moderada bilateral" entre esses dois sub-sistemas da gramática.

The aim of this paper is to describe the strategies of Focalization in Brazilian Portuguese, observing the Syntax-Phonology interface. I defend the independence of Prosody in the materialization of the phenomenon and, for this, I suggest a 'bilateral moderate dissocicionist' connection beetween this two subsystems of Grammar.

Neste artigo examinamos alguns pontos de vista sobre o pseudoprefixo, entre os quais o de Ferreira (1990), o de Li Ching (1973), Iordan e Manoliu (1980). Enfatizamos Iordan e Manoliu como ponto de partida para analisar a proposta de Carvalho (1974), baseada no acento secundário do pseudoprefixo, que possibilita explicar seus usos braquissêmicos.

In this article we examine some points of view about pseudoprefix, namely that of Ferreira (1990), of Li Ching (1973) and of Iordan and Manoliu (1980). We emphasize the contribuitions of Iordan and Manoliu as a starting point to analyse the proposal of Carvalho (1974), based upon the secondary stress of pseudoprefix, which is able to explain its brachysemic uses.
