A principal preocupação desse estudo é, através das reflexões nele contidas, apontar caminhos que poderão contribuir para que as nossas universidades, face à inevitável globalização, possam se instrumentalizar de forma coesa, de modo a cumprir sua missão na formação e transformação do homem. Para tal, organizamos esse trabalho sobre a universidade partindo de sua gênese, passando pelo momento atual e chegando até as perspectivas que se tem da universidade pretendida para o próximo milênio; para isso foram coletados dados que permitiram analisar alguns de seus problemas e, através dessa análise levantar possíveis soluções frente ao emergente século XXI.

The main concern of this study is, through the reflection, to be able to point to possible contributions to our universities that are facing the inevitable globalization; it is assumed that it is important to have good instruments to actively participate in the formation and transformation of men and women. To accomplish this, the paper deals with the theme analyzing the genesis of the University, drawing the picture of the present moment and giving the desired perspectives for the next millennium; data were collected to base the analysis of these problems and the solutions proposed, taking into account the emergent XXI Century.

Este texto examina brevemente as grandes tendências da globalização recente e os processos que vêm de algum tempo referentes à uma modernização frágil sem modernidade na América Latina, relacionando-as com as mudanças nas famílias latino-americanas, alterando sua estrutura e funcionamento, tendo como base as questões de ordem econômica; há um conjunto de conseqüências para a socialização das gerações mais novas e por outro lado, fatores culturais estariam na base de adaptações e delimitação de particularidades a cada país envolvido.

In this text it is briefly analyzed the great tendencies of recent globalization and the process, that are already enduring some time, referring to a weak modernization without modernity in Latin America; this has relation with changes in Latin-American's families structure and functioning, having the economical order as the fundamentals; it can be observed un great number of consequences for the socialization of new generations; on the other side, cultural factors give the base for adaptations e delimitations of idiosyncratic values of each country.

Este trabalho investiga histórias de vida de três famílias, cadastradas em programas sociais, cujos filhos encontravam-se abrigados em instituição, sob medida de proteção. O objetivo consistiu em identificar e analisar aspectos inerentes a suas dinâmicas e sociabilidade. A coleta de dados deu-se através da análise dos prontuários, entrevistas com profissional responsável pelo acompanhamento dos casos e com membros delas. Os dados foram organizados de modo a esboçar as trajetórias percorridas pelos grupos familiares tendo em vista o momento anterior e posterior ao abrigamento dos filhos. Os resultados permitem afirmar que as três famílias pertencem às classes populares e que todas partem de um modelo nuclear. Ao longo das histórias, frente às inúmeras dificuldades materiais, verificar-se-ia a desagregação do grupo inicial com a recorrência a estratégias de sobrevivência bastante diversificadas, incluindo o abrigamento dos filhos.

This work investigates life's histories of three families that were making part of social programs whose kids were sheltered in a home care center, under protection measure. The goal was to identify and to analyze some inherent aspects of their dynamics and sociability. The data's collected was through institutional reports, interviews with the professional that followed the cases (a social worker) and informal interviews with the three families' members. The results allow affirm that the three families are from a low social status and they started following a nuclear model. In their histories, in front of several material difficulties, we verify the initial group desegregation and the use of survival strategies, including their children institutionalization.

Esse trabalho teve por objetivo verificar como é o comportamento dos bebês e adultos no momento de separação e reencontro em uma creche do interior paulista. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevista semi-estruturada com 21 educadoras de creche, individualmente entrevistadas, sobre cada bebê de 4 a 24 meses sob seus cuidados (n=71) e através da observação gravada em vídeo da situação de separação e reencontro entre pais-bebês. Os dados obtidos foram analisados de forma quantitativa, quantitativa-interpretativa e qualitativa. Os resultados desse estudo parecem indicar que essa amostra de bebês tem uma forte ligação com a figura materna, evidenciada principalmente depois dos oito meses em diante, com possibilidades de ser um apego seguro em função da manifestação de alegria quando as mães retornam e da afetividade demonstrada por elas; isto leva a afirmação de que o fato de o bebê permanecer no ambiente coletivo durante o dia não estaria afetando o seu vínculo afetivo com a mãe.

This paper aims to verify how do babies and adults behave at the moment when they meet and separate at a day-care-center. Data were obtained from individual interviews following a semi-structured guide with 21 educators of the day-care-center about each from 4 to 24 months under their care (n=90) and from the video tape records of the situations. Data were analyzed through a quantitative system, quantitative-interpretative and qualitative one. The results of this study indicate that this babies' sample has a strong link with mother, specially after the eight month. This finding suggests a secure attachment pattern because they manifest a lot of joy when their mothers come back and they are very affective with them. So, collective setting is not affecting, in a negative way, babies/mothers attachment.

O objetivo do presente estudo consistiu em avaliar o impacto do nascimento de bebês extremamente prematuros (<1500g). Foram estudadas duas amostras de sujeitos: uma constituída por mães de recém-nascidos pré-termo e com muito baixo peso, hospitalizados em UTI-Neonatal e outra com 34 crianças de oito a dez anos nascidas pré-termo e com peso <1500g e 20 crianças nascidas a termo e com peso > 2500g. Os efeitos precoces da prematuridade foram identificados na análise de conteúdo das verbalizações maternas em 20 sessões de grupo de apoio durante a internação do bebê na UTIN. As crianças da fase escolar foram avaliadas pelos testes de Raven, Desenho da Figura Humana, Escala Comportamental Infantil A2 de Rutter e um questionário (mães). Os resultados mostraram as mães preocupadas com a sobrevivência e evolução dos bebês, com a separação devido à internação na UTIN e sentimento de incompetência em desempenhar seu papel. 49% das crianças da fase escolar evidenciaram inteligência média ou acima e 42% limítrofes; 18% apresentou deficiência auditiva; 82% estavam em escola regular. Problemas comportamentais verificados: agitação, impaciência, inquietude e agarramento à mãe.

The aim of the present study consisted of assessing the impact of extremely pre-term low birthweight (<1500g). It was studied two samples of subjects: one of pre-term newborn mothers (with very low weight committed on ICU-Neonatal of HCFMRP-USP) and other made up of 34 children from eight to ten years old that were born pre-term and with <1500g of weight and 20 children born full term and with >2500g. Early effects of prematurity were identified through analysis of mothers verbalizations' content in 20 group support sessions during the babies' commitment on ICU. School children's assessment phase included Raven's and Human Figure Draw Tests, Child Behavioral Scale A2 of Rutter and a questionnaire to the mothers. It was verified a high mother's preoccupation with babies' survival, evolution, mother's separation, and incompetence sense to perform their role. 49% of school age children showed average intelligence and 42% were borderline; 18% presented aural deficiency; 82% were attending regular school. There appeared behavioral problems as agitation, impatience, and attachment to the mother.

Como explicar as situações que apresentam claras evidências de êxito escolar quando a realidade social e cultural do aluno é desfavorável a sua escolarização? Sem pretender dar conta desta questão apresentamos, neste trabalho, alguns dados de pesquisas com famílias de meios populares que vivenciaram situações que demonstram adaptação escolar e maior tempo de permanência de seus filhos no sistema de ensino, se comparadas às estatísticas sobre a realidade educacional brasileira. Contrariando a visão genérica e patologizante de famílias dos meios populares, o trabalho mostra o erro em que incorremos quando nos apoiamos nos padrões das camadas médias para avaliar as práticas observadas nos meios socialmente desfavorecidos.

How can we explain situations of clear evidence of successful school performance when the social and cultural reality of the students is unfavorable to their school education? Without intending to answer this question, in this study we present some research data concerning underprivileged families who experienced situations demonstrating school adaptation and a longer prermancen of their children in the school system compared to the statistical data about the Brazilian educational reality. Going against the generic pathology-creating vision of underprivileged families, the study shows the error we incur when we base ourselves on middle class standards to evaluate the practices observed in socially underprivileged classes.

Au moment où l'on fait appel de plus en plus à l'interdisciplinarité, les rapports entre Ia Sociologie et l'Histoire sont à une étape charnière de leur développement. Autrefois relativement indépendantes les unes des autres, ces deux disciplines tentent de s'influencer, de dépasser leur barrière respective, tout en gardant leur spécificité, pour en arriver à une rneilleure compréhension des phénomènes sociaux. Dans un contexte où les Sciences Humaines cherchent à se redéfinir une place dans le champ social, il importe de réfléchir à fond sur l'apport heuristique de deux secteurs majeurs au sein des Sciences Humaines, l'Histoire et Ia Sociologie.

At the moment, when attention is called to the question of interdisciplinary, it can be observed that the relationships between Sociology and History have a particular evolution. They are independent disciplines and they are trying to influence one each other, bypassing their limits, although maintaining their specificity, with the objective of a better understanding of social phenomenon. Human Sciences are redefining their place in social area and it is important to think about the heuristic contribution of these two major sectors : History and Sociology.

Neste artigo, descrevem-se características comportamentais de uma amostra de adolescentes internadas em instituições, apresentando brevemente o problema em questão para depois dar os conceitos que estão na base da reorganização das atividades a elas propostas. Na seqüência, explica-se como funciona a atividade "Sexo", cujos objetivos são o de informar as adolescentes, fazê-las falar sobre sua sexualidade, e refletir, levantando a questão da prolongação da intervenção da atividade de educação sexual, discutindo sobre o grupo de ajuda por ocasião dos abusos sexuais vividos na primavera de 1994.

In this paper, it is intended to describe the characteristics of an adolescents sample living in institutions, their problems, and the concepts behind the program proposed, based on a reorganization of activities. In a second phase it is explained the way the information about sex begin to be transmitted, the orientation to talk about this subject, specially the experiences the adolescents had and the opportunity to reflect; the activity about sexual education included to form a group to help the adolescents that had been abused.
