Essa prática, todavia, envolve risco de lesões musculoesqueléticas. OBJETIVO: Verificar a prevalência de lesões osteomioarticulares e analisar os fatores associados em corredores de rua amadores de Belo Horizonte, MG. MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo observacional do tipo transversal. A seleção da amostra foi por conveniência. Participaram da pesquisa 100 atletas amadores com pelo menos três meses de prática de corrida com frequência mínima de duas vezes por semana. Foram coletados os dados referentes à prevalência de lesões e os fatores associados através de um questionário estruturado. RESULTADOS: A prevalência de lesões entre os atletas foi de 40%. Dentre os fatores associados à lesão destacam-se a distância média diária e a variação no volume do treinamento. CONCLUSÃO: A prevalência de lesões em corredores amadores é considerável, apesar de ter sido relatada por menos da metade dos participantes. As características do treinamento podem desencadear lesões e devem ser analisadas com cautela para que a corrida seja realizada de forma segura.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[INTRODUCTION: The practice of street racing has increased in recent years, both for its ease and the low cost involved. This practice, however, involves risks of musculoskeletal injuries. OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries and analyze associated factors among street racers amateur of Belo Horizonte /MG. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional observational study. Sample selection was by convenience. The participants were 100 amateur athletes with at least three months of practice running with minimum frequency of twice a week. We collected data on the prevalence of injuries and associated factors using a structured questionnaire. RESULTS: The prevalence of injuries among athletes was 40%. Among the factors associated with injury include the distance and the variation in average daily volume of training. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of injuries in amateur runners is considerable, although it was reported by less than half of the participants. The characteristics of training may trigger injury and should be carefully analyzed so that the race is held securely.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <b>INTRODU&Ccedil;&Atilde;O</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Com o intuito de prevenir o aparecimento de diversas doen&ccedil;as cr&ocirc;nicas, o <i>American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)</i> e a <i>American Heart Association</i> (AHA) preconizam a pr&aacute;tica de atividades f&iacute;sicas de longa dura&ccedil;&atilde;o, intensidade moderada e com o envolvimento de grandes grupamentos musculares, cujas caracter&iacute;sticas se enquadram perfeitamente &agrave; corrida<sup>1</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A corrida &eacute; uma modalidade com grande n&uacute;mero de adeptos, tanto pela facilidade de sua pr&aacute;tica como pelos seus benef&iacute;cios para a sa&uacute;de e o baixo custo envolvido. Por essas e outras raz&otilde;es, t&ecirc;m-se tornado popular; no entanto, os indiv&iacute;duos que a praticam, seja no &acirc;mbito competitivo ou recreativo, est&atilde;o expostos aos eventuais riscos associados, particularmente se o movimento ou a forma de treinamento estiverem inapropriados<sup>2,3</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">As les&otilde;es osteomusculares mais comuns na corrida ocorrem nos membros inferiores. Uma recente meta-an&aacute;lise revelou que a incid&ecirc;ncia de les&otilde;es em praticantes de corrida varia de 19,4% a 79,3% sendo a articula&ccedil;&atilde;o do joelho a mais acometida<sup>4</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">O mecanismo de les&atilde;o relacionado com a corrida obedece a um padr&atilde;o comum a todas as les&otilde;es nos diferentes esportes e decorre da sobreposi&ccedil;&atilde;o de v&aacute;rios fatores. Esses fatores podem ser divididos em extr&iacute;nsecos ou intr&iacute;nsecos. Os fatores extr&iacute;nsecos s&atilde;o aqueles que direta ou indiretamente est&atilde;o ligados &agrave; prepara&ccedil;&atilde;o ou &agrave; pr&aacute;tica da corrida e envolvem erros de planejamento e execu&ccedil;&atilde;o do treinamento, tipo de superf&iacute;cie de treino, tipo de percurso, tipo de cal&ccedil;ado, alimenta&ccedil;&atilde;o e pr&aacute;tica concomitante com outras modalidades esportivas. J&aacute; os fatores intr&iacute;nsecos, que s&atilde;o aqueles inerentes ao organismo e incluem anormalidades biomec&acirc;nicas e anat&ocirc;micas, flexibilidade, hist&oacute;rico de les&otilde;es, caracter&iacute;sticas antropom&eacute;tricas, densidade &oacute;ssea, composi&ccedil;&atilde;o corp&oacute;rea e condicionamento cardiovascular<sup>5-8</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Assim, a corrida, seja amadora ou profissional, envolve risco de les&otilde;es musculoesquel&eacute;ticas. Portanto, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a preval&ecirc;ncia de les&otilde;es osteomioarticulares e analisar os fatores associados em corredores de rua amadores de Belo Horizonte, MG. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>METODOLOGIA </b></font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Delineamento do estudo e aspectos &eacute;ticos </b></font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Foi realizado um estudo observacional do tipo transversal. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comit&ecirc; de &Eacute;tica em Pesquisa do Centro Universit&aacute;rio Newton Paiva (CAEE 0013.0.273.000-10). Todos os indiv&iacute;duos foram esclarecidos quanto aos objetivos da pesquisa e assinaram um Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido antes da coleta de dados. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Amostra</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A sele&ccedil;&atilde;o da amostra foi por conveni&ecirc;ncia. Foram avaliados atletas com diferentes locais de pr&aacute;tica, a coleta foi realizada em 11 locais, frequentemente utilizados para a pr&aacute;tica de corrida em Belo Horizonte (regi&atilde;o da Lagoa Seca, Avenida Bandeirantes e Pra&ccedil;a JK, Avenida Jos&eacute; do Patroc&iacute;nio Pontes, Pra&ccedil;a da Assembleia, Avenida Jos&eacute; C&acirc;ndido da Silveira, Lagoa da Pampulha, Avenida Silva Lobo, Parque Municipal, Avenida dos Andradas e Pra&ccedil;a da Liberdade). A pesquisa foi feita com atletas amadores que praticavam corrida h&aacute; pelo menos tr&ecirc;s meses, com frequ&ecirc;ncia de no m&iacute;nimo duas vezes por semana e que apresentavam idade entre 18 e 60 anos. Foram exclu&iacute;dos os participantes que realizavam concomitantemente outra pr&aacute;tica esportiva ou que apresentavam hist&oacute;ria pr&eacute;via de les&atilde;o traum&aacute;tica em membros inferiores. Participaram da pesquisa 100 volunt&aacute;rios, com predomin&acirc;ncia do sexo masculino (73%). A amostra foi dividida em grupo les&atilde;o (GL) e grupo sem les&atilde;o (GNL) </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Procedimentos</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A coleta de dados foi realizada por pesquisadores previamente treinados para padroniza&ccedil;&atilde;o da entrevista. Para a caracteriza&ccedil;&atilde;o da amostra foi aplicado um question&aacute;rio elaborado pelos pesquisadores com informa&ccedil;&otilde;es referentes a sexo, idade, peso, altura e &iacute;ndice de massa corporal (IMC). Para a an&aacute;lise da preval&ecirc;ncia considerou-se les&atilde;o qualquer dor ou agravo que tenha limitado ou afastado por um ou mais dias a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o do atleta em treinos e/ou competi&ccedil;&otilde;es nos &uacute;ltimos seis meses<sup>9</sup>. Com rela&ccedil;&atilde;o aos fatores associados, foram coletados dados referentes &agrave;s vari&aacute;veis de treinamento. Pesquisou-se  o tempo de pr&aacute;tica de corrida, frequ&ecirc;ncia semanal, dist&acirc;ncia m&eacute;dia di&aacute;ria, dura&ccedil;&atilde;o do treino, tempo de uso do cal&ccedil;ado, hor&aacute;rio habitual do treino e varia&ccedil;&atilde;o recente no treino. As vari&aacute;veis supracitadas foram escolhidas por serem frequentemente associadas aos fatores de risco de les&atilde;o na corrida<sup>4,5,8</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>An&aacute;lise estat&iacute;stica</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Para categoriza&ccedil;&atilde;o da amostra foi utilizada a estat&iacute;stica descritiva. Para avaliar as diferen&ccedil;as entre os grupos foi utilizado o teste <i>t</i> de <i>Student</i> e Mann-Whitney U para grupos independentes. Nas an&aacute;lises inferenciais foi considerado um n&iacute;vel de signific&acirc;ncia </font>&#945;<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> = 0,05. Todos os dados foram analisados atrav&eacute;s do aplicativo SPSS vers&atilde;o 15.0. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <b>RESULTADOS</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A caracteriza&ccedil;&atilde;o da amostra est&aacute; demonstrada na <a href="#tab1">tabela 1</a>. Em uma an&aacute;lise geral, os volunt&aacute;rios eram adultos e eutr&oacute;ficos. N&atilde;o houve diferen&ccedil;as significativas entre os grupos GNL e GL. </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><a name="tab1"></a></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p align="center"><img src="/img/revistas/rbme/v18n4/a07tab01.jpg"></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Na <a href="/img/revistas/rbme/v18n4/a07tab02.jpg">tabela 2</a> est&aacute; expressa a descri&ccedil;&atilde;o das vari&aacute;veis quantitativas dos grupos GL e GNL. Na an&aacute;lise entre grupos, a dist&acirc;ncia m&eacute;dia percorrida por dia mostrou-se como a &uacute;nica vari&aacute;vel com diferen&ccedil;a estat&iacute;stica significativa (p = 0,004). N&atilde;o houve diferen&ccedil;as significativas entre os g&ecirc;neros do mesmo grupo e dos diferentes grupos (p &gt; 0,05) </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Na <a href="#tab3">tabela 3</a> est&atilde;o representados o hor&aacute;rio habitual e as varia&ccedil;&otilde;es recentes do treinamento. No GL, a maioria dos atletas (45%) treina no per&iacute;odo matutino, enquanto no GNL, no per&iacute;odo noturno (61,6%). Mais da metade dos atletas do GL (52,5%) realizou uma varia&ccedil;&atilde;o recente no treino. </font></p>     <p><a name="tab3"></a></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p align="center"><img src="/img/revistas/rbme/v18n4/a07tab03.jpg"></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <b>DISCUSS&Atilde;O</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">&Eacute; importante identificar a preval&ecirc;ncia e os fatores associados &agrave;s les&otilde;es na corrida para que se possa adotar medidas preventivas eficazes. Van Gent <i>et al.</i> <sup>4</sup> afirmaram que a corrida pode ser considerada um esporte de risco elevado para o surgimento de les&otilde;es. A presente pesquisa incluiu 100 volunt&aacute;rios e a preval&ecirc;ncia de les&otilde;es foi de 40%. Os resultados obtidos concordam com o estudo de Macera<sup>10</sup> que, em revis&atilde;o da literatura, relatou que entre corredores h&aacute; uma preval&ecirc;ncia de les&otilde;es de 24 a 65%. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Todavia, na literatura, percebe-se uma grande variabilidade entre os dados de ocorr&ecirc;ncia de les&atilde;o. Taunton <i>et al.</i> <sup>11</sup> verificaram preval&ecirc;ncia de 29,5% em uma amostra com 844 corredores; Hootman <i>et al.</i> <sup>12</sup>, 25% com 6.313 corredores inclu&iacute;dos no estudo; Rosendal <i>et al.</i> <sup>13</sup>, 28% em um estudo envolvendo 330 militantes; Hino <i>et al.</i> <sup>14</sup>, 28,5% com amostra composta por 295 corredores amadores; e Middelkoop <i>et al.</i> <sup>15</sup>, 54,8% em um estudo conduzido com 725 participantes da maratona de Rotterdam. Em parte, a variabilidade nos resultados decorre da heterogeneidade da amostra e da diverg&ecirc;ncia metodol&oacute;gica entre os estudos. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">As investiga&ccedil;&otilde;es sobre les&otilde;es nos esportes encontram grandes dificuldades devido a aspectos metodol&oacute;gicos como crit&eacute;rios de cataloga&ccedil;&atilde;o do conceito de les&atilde;o. Para o nosso estudo, consideramos les&atilde;o qualquer dor ou agravo que tenha limitado ou afastado por um ou mais dias a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o do atleta em treinos e/ou competi&ccedil;&otilde;es nos &uacute;ltimos seis meses proposta por Lun <i>et al.</i> <sup>9</sup>. No entanto, outras defini&ccedil;&otilde;es tamb&eacute;m s&atilde;o utilizadas. Rudzki<sup>16</sup> e Fauno <i>et al.</i> <sup>17</sup> consideraram les&atilde;o como o diagn&oacute;stico nosol&oacute;gico expedido por um m&eacute;dico; Pollock <i>et al.</i> <sup>18</sup>, um evento que impedisse os atletas a correr por pelo menos uma semana; Pope <i>et al.</i> <sup>19</sup>, a incapacidade de completar as atividades di&aacute;rias sem sinais e sintomas dentro de tr&ecirc;s dias; e Pastre <i>et al.</i> <sup>20</sup>, uma dor ou afec&ccedil;&atilde;o musculoesquel&eacute;tica resultante de treinamentos e competi&ccedil;&otilde;es esportivas e que foi suficiente para causar altera&ccedil;&otilde;es no treinamento normal. Dessa forma, &eacute; necess&aacute;ria uma padroniza&ccedil;&atilde;o para que se possa confrontar os resultados. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A literatura n&atilde;o &eacute; consensual em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave;s diferen&ccedil;as na preval&ecirc;ncia de les&otilde;es entre homens e mulheres. Postula-se que fatores biomec&acirc;nicos, hormonais e neuromusculares desempenham um papel crucial na ocorr&ecirc;ncia de les&atilde;o<sup>21,22</sup>. No presente estudo, n&atilde;o houve diferen&ccedil;as entre g&ecirc;nero. Foi verificada uma preval&ecirc;ncia similar no sexo masculino (41%) e no sexo feminino (37%). O tamanho da amostra, a falta de dados quantitativos biomec&acirc;nicos, o diagn&oacute;stico nosol&oacute;gico e as informa&ccedil;&otilde;es laboratoriais impediram uma an&aacute;lise sobre os dados. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Com rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave;s vari&aacute;veis quantitativas, a dist&acirc;ncia m&eacute;dia percorrida por dia mostrou-se como a &uacute;nica vari&aacute;vel com diferen&ccedil;a estat&iacute;stica significativa entre o GL e o GNL (p = 0,004). A frequ&ecirc;ncia de resultados adversos aumenta quando os atletas se envolvem em programas de corrida em que o percurso semanal &eacute; acima de 32km<sup>23</sup>. De acordo com Yeung e Yeung<sup>5</sup>, h&aacute; evid&ecirc;ncias cient&iacute;ficas de que a redu&ccedil;&atilde;o na dist&acirc;ncia percorrida pode reduzir o surgimento de les&otilde;es. Hootman <i>et al.</i> <sup>12</sup> concluem que existe aumento do risco de les&atilde;o musculoesquel&eacute;tica entre corredores conforme o incremento do volume semanal de treinamento. Os corredores que treinavam mais de 3,75 horas/semana possu&iacute;am probabilidade 2,38 maior de sofrer les&atilde;o quando comparados a indiv&iacute;duos que treinavam menos que 1,25 horas/semana. Fredericson e Misra<sup>24</sup> reiteraram que uma maior quilometragem semanal representa maior risco de les&otilde;es. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Um ponto importante de se refletir, al&eacute;m do volume de treinamento (dist&acirc;ncia), &eacute; a intensidade do treinamento (velocidade). Pode-se deduzir que os GL e GNL apresentaram diferentes velocidades de treinamento, pois eles n&atilde;o apresentaram diferen&ccedil;a na dura&ccedil;&atilde;o do treino (tempo), mas, ao mesmo tempo, apresentaram diferen&ccedil;a na dist&acirc;ncia m&eacute;dia percorrida (km). Isto pode, dessa maneira, significar uma maior velocidade m&eacute;dia no GL em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o ao GNL, apesar dessa vari&aacute;vel n&atilde;o ter sido diretamente medida neste trabalho. Talvez pela dificuldade de mensura&ccedil;&atilde;o <i>in loco,</i> na literatura h&aacute; poucos estudos que esclarecem a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre a velocidade de treinamento e o surgimento de les&otilde;es. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave;s vari&aacute;veis categ&oacute;ricas, o hor&aacute;rio de treinamento n&atilde;o foi distinto entre os GL e GNL, n&atilde;o sendo ent&atilde;o esta vari&aacute;vel considerada um fator de causa ou prote&ccedil;&atilde;o para a atividade, segundo os dados apurados no estudo. No que se refere &agrave;s mudan&ccedil;as no treinamento, 52,5% dos indiv&iacute;duos do GL realizaram uma varia&ccedil;&atilde;o recente no treino contra 31,6% do GNL. Yeung e Yeung<sup>5</sup> observaram que h&aacute; forte associa&ccedil;&atilde;o entre a modifica&ccedil;&atilde;o no treino e o surgimento de les&otilde;es por sobrecarga. Mudan&ccedil;as abruptas no treinamento n&atilde;o permitem adapta&ccedil;&atilde;o fisiol&oacute;gica do organismo predispondo a uma inj&uacute;ria tecidual<sup>25</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Observou-se preval&ecirc;ncia consider&aacute;vel de les&otilde;es em corredores amadores de rua, mesmo analisando o per&iacute;odo curto de seis meses. As consequ&ecirc;ncias negativas das les&otilde;es afetam o bem-estar psicol&oacute;gico do atleta e podem comprometer a sua sa&uacute;de mental atrav&eacute;s de sintomas como depress&atilde;o, medo, frustra&ccedil;&atilde;o, impaci&ecirc;ncia e uma imagem desfavor&aacute;vel &agrave; pr&aacute;tica da modalidade esportiva<sup>26</sup>. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Optamos por realizar a coleta de dados em locais frequentemente utilizados para a pr&aacute;tica de corrida no munic&iacute;pio de Belo Horizonte sem realizar uma an&aacute;lise ambiental do terreno; no entanto, salientamos que diferentes locais para a pr&aacute;tica de corrida imp&otilde;em diferentes sobrecargas durante a atividade, o que pode ter repercutido nos resultados. </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Dentre as limita&ccedil;&otilde;es do estudo destacam-se a operacionaliza&ccedil;&atilde;o de les&atilde;o, que &eacute; suscept&iacute;vel a vi&eacute;s de mem&oacute;ria, e o delineamento do estudo que n&atilde;o permite inferir causalidade. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <b>CONCLUS&Atilde;O</b> </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Conclui-se que entre os corredores amadores de rua do munic&iacute;pio de Belo Horizonte, MG, 40% dos entrevistados relataram ter sofrido algum tipo de les&atilde;o nos &uacute;ltimos seis meses. Dentre os fatores associados &agrave; les&atilde;o destacam-se a dist&acirc;ncia m&eacute;dia di&aacute;ria e a varia&ccedil;&atilde;o no volume do treinamento.
