Actualmente, una tendencia es la reorganización industrial en sistemas geográficamente dispersos, en la ejecutando sus actividades con autonomía. Estos sistemas deben establecer relaciones coordinadas a fin de asegurar el funcionamiento general del sistema. Así, este trabajo propone un sistema de manufactura basado en "web service" para asegurar una efectiva orquestación de servicios para producir productos finales. Adicionalmente, es considerado funciones especiales, tales como teleoperación y el monitoreo remoto, solicitaciones online de usuarios, entre otras. Considerando el sistema propuesto como un sistema a eventos discretos (DES), técnicas derivadas de la rede de Petri (PN), incluyendo las de Production Flow Schema (PFS), pueden ser utilizadas en un abordaje PFS/PN para modelado. El sistema es abordado en diferentes niveles de abstracción: uno conceptual, el cual es obtenido aplicando técnicas PFS, y un modelo funcional, el cual es obtenido aplicando PN. Finalmente, el trabajo presenta un ejemplo del sistema propuesto.

Nowadays, there is a trend for industry reorganization in geographically dispersed systems, carried out of their activities with autonomy. These systems must maintain coordinated relationship among themselves in order to assure an expected performance of the overall system. Thus, a manufacturing system is proposed, based on "web services" to assure an effective orchestration of services in order to produce final products. In addition, it considers special functions, such as teleoperation and remote monitoring, users' online request, among others. Considering the proposed system as discrete event system (DES), techniques derived from Petri nets (PN), including the Production Flow Schema (PFS), can be used in a PFS/PN approach for modeling. The system is approached in different levels of abstraction: a conceptual model which is obtained by applying the PFS technique and a functional model which is obtained by applying PN. Finally, a particular example of the proposed system is presented.

This text is a snapshot of the last four years of the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (JBSMSE). The last four years is related to the period of the current editorial team which is coming to an end. At first, we present the evolution of the paper manuscript submission and peer review system towards an online electronic system, the SciELO system. This resulted on a much more reliable and efficient solution. After, a brief summary of the current peer review process is presented together with statistics of paper manuscripts submitted and approved for publication in each section. A qualitatively analysis of time duration for a peer review process is realized while trying to identify drawbacks and possible improvements. An analysis of the paper download requests via the SciELO system, during the past 4 years, is presented. Some of the most downloaded papers are listed together with their statistics. It is claimed here that number of downloads could be a possible Scientometrics index. At the end, we draw some conclusions on the current importance of the JBSMSE.

O sistema flexível de manufatura (FMS flexible manufacturing system) executa múltiplos processos simultaneamente que utilizam um conjunto limitado de recursos. Estes processos podem ficar permanentemente bloqueados em função da seqüência de atividades, isto é, o compartilhamento de um conjunto finito de recursos pode levar o sistema a um estado de autotravamento. O FMS pode ser visto como pertencente a uma classe de sistema a eventos discretos, onde não é possível determinar quando um evento ocorre e com isto a seqüência de eventos fica indefinida. Este tipo de sistema pode ser modelado através de rede de Petri e assim explora-se esta técnica para desenvolver uma solução para o problema de auto-travamento considerando o indeterminismo do FMS. O objetivo é introduzir uma abordagem algorítmica para a implementação de uma ferramenta computacional baseada na especificação funcional do FMS e que automatize a geração de uma estratégia de controle para a utilização de recursos e de regras para evitar o autotravamento.

The flexible manufacturing system (FMS) executes multiple processes simultaneously using a limited set of resources. These processes can be blocked permanently due to the sequence of the activities, i.e., the processes sharing a finite set of resources may eventually lead to a deadlock state. The FMS belongs to the class of discrete event systems where it is not possible to determine when an event will occur and the sequence of events becomes undefined. Such systems can be modeled using Petri net, and this work presents a method that solves the deadlock problem considering the indeterminism of FMSs. The goal of this work is to introduce an algorithmic approach, which allows the implementation of a computer program based on FMS functional specification. The proposal is to automate the generation of the control strategy for resource utilization and the rules to avoid the deadlock situation.

Em função da capacidade computacional instalada e da estrutura dispersa de alguns sistemas produtivos, existe interesse em soluções de modelagem e simulação distribuída destes sistemas. Isso é considerado como um recurso fundamental para o projeto, implementação e melhoria de desempenho desses sistemas produtivos. A idéia é que por meio de simulações com o uso de computadores fisicamente dispersos, mas integrados através de uma rede de comunicação, pode-se avaliar o comportamento de sistemas em concepção e melhorar resultados de plantas existentes. Este trabalho propõe assim, um procedimento para a modelagem de sistemas produtivos em ambientes distribuídos. Esse procedimento foi aplicado com sucesso a alguns estudos de caso onde sua eficácia foi confirmada. Este trabalho envolve ainda a proposta de um algoritmo para o gerenciamento da simulação distribuída. Com o método de modelagem e o algoritmo de gerenciamento tem-se os principais elementos para a implementação prática de um simulador de sistemas produtivos dispersos.

Based on the existing computational capability and disperse infrastructure of some productive systems, there are interest for distributed modeling and simulation of these systems. These techniques are considered fundamental for design, implementation and performance improvement of productive systems. The approach is the simulation through the use of computers physically dispersed but integrated via a communication network to evaluate the behavior of systems still in conception level and also to improve the performance of existing plants. This work proposes a procedure for modeling of productive systems in distributed environment. This procedure was applied to case studies to confirm it effectiveness. The work includes an algorithm for the management of the distributed simulation. With the modeling method and the management algorithm we have the main elements for the practical implementation of the disperse productive system simulator.

Este trabalho propõem uma nova metodologia para modelagem de sistemas de ar condicionado em Edifícios Inteligentes. Para possibilitar a integração com outros sistemas do edifício, o sistema de ar condicionado é caracterizado como híbrido. A metodologia proposta consistem em uma abordagem do tipo top-down baseada em redes de Petri. A partir de um modelo abstrato construído usando Production Flow Schema, modelos baseados em redes de Petri são obtidos através de detalhamentos sucessivos. A parte discreta é modelada usando redes de Petri Lugar-Transição e a parte contínua é modelada usando sistemas de equações diferenciais. A interface entre as duas partes é realizada pelas redes de Petri Predicado Transição Diferenciais.

In this work, a novel hybrid modeling approach for HVAC control system design in Intelligent Buildings is introduced. In order to achieve building system integration, a characterization of HVAC system as hybrid is required. The proposed approach is a top-down modeling method based on Petri net. Starting from abstract models designed using the Production Flow Schema, Petri net based models are built by successive refinements. The discrete part of the system is modeled using Place-Transition Petri nets and the continuous part is modeled using differential equation systems. The interface between these two parts is provided by Differential Predicate Transition Petri nets.

Este trabalho introduz as Redes de Petri para modelagem e análise de sistemas de saúde que além da complexidade de suas atividades, envolve na sua concepção, implementação, operação e tomada de decisões, vários e diferentes profissionais. Os modelos são desenvolvidos em PFS (Production Flow Schema) e MFG (Mark Flow Graph) que são interpretações de redes de Petri, explicitando os recursos envolvidos e o fluxo de itens (pessoas, equipamentos, informações). Os serviços do Ambulatório do Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade de São Paulo são utilizados como estudo de caso para comprovar as vantagens da presente proposta.

This paper introduces the Petri net for modelling and analysis of health systems where beyond the complexity of they activities, involves in its conception, implementation, operation and decision making several and differents professionals. The models are developed in PFS (Production Flow Schema) and MFC (Mark Flow Graph) that are interpretations of Peri nets aiming the explicit identification of resources and flow of itens (material and information). The services of the ambulatory of Clinic Hospital of University of São Paulo is considered in a case study to confirm the advantages of the proposal.
