Summary
This study was conducted in the Model Basin, located at the Km 14 of ZF-2 road, in a representative plot of the "terra firme" Amazon Forest. The main objective was to quantify the fraction of the rainfall intercepted by the forest canopy. For this determination, three rain gauges were installed in a clear area place, and thirty others into the canopy. In order to collect the stemflow thirty seven collector systems were also provided. From the results, it was possible do conclude that 22% from total rainfall were intercepted by canopy and 77.7% has reached the soil surface as throughfall. The stemflow represented only 0.3% of that total.
