Summary
In Amazonian Brazil, at least 15 species of Cecropia occur. These 15 species are extensively or shortly described. A key to these species is given. Data about distribution are given in the text and in maps. In an introductory part, the systematic position of and spectation in Cecropia and, futhermore, the morphology and ecology of the studied species are discussed. The chromosome number of several species is counted.
