The leaves ofX. anamariae, X. archeri, X. hymenachne, X. melanopoda, X. minarum, X. obcordata, X. paraensis, X. pilosa, X. platystachia, X. pterygoblephara, X. savanensis, X. spinulosa, X. tortilis e X. tortula were prepared with the usual methods for anatomical studies. The comparative analysis of the blade base showed differences in the epidermis structure, in the mesophill organization and in the vascular bundles number and fusion, according to the species. These features were used to characterize each species and when combined they may be used to demonstrate leaf specialization forms, related to hydric deficiency.
